I thought one of them was focused on rebuilding trust? Was it McKnight?

We need that trust rebuilt at this point.

Too much disruption already over the last several years, between covid and the shenanigans under McKnight. Looking for some reasonableness at this point.

I feel like Taylor will come up with something reasonable in the end.

Man I hope so.

You feel this based on what exactly?

What MCPS staff allowed the consultants to release these 4 options, when none of them are actual options anyone will be choosing from, and why MCPS staff and consultants are holding all these meetings, which is a huge waste of time and resources, is beyond me

So wait, non of these options are even reak? WTF is the point? When will the real options be presented? This is super dumb.

Correct

Well according to the MCPS website they are options that will be “refined.” I wouldn’t bank on random internet poster’s statements that they aren’t at least somewhat indicative of what the eventual option will be.

Or, some of you could try reading. The FAA policy says that all 4 options are equally weighted, so no, none of the 4 options released are real, because they each weigh only one of the 4 FAA priorities

Do you work for MCPS or Flo Analytics?

Nice try, but I'm an educated, involved parent

Anyone in Farmland/Luxmanor/Garrett Park/Tilden pod is annoyed that we swap North Bethesda crew for the crappy middle school kids from the Wheaton side.

Overwhelmingly, WJ parents voted to reopen Woodward. WJ parents and students went to County Council meetings all decked out in Green to show support for funding for Woodward. We’ve filled out I don’t know how many surveys about Woodward.

Now it looks like MCPS may renege on that and send WJ families from Farmland, Garrett Park and KP to other parts of the county. That’s half of WJ.

No good deed shall go unpunished. Bait and switch.

Wow, this is just...wow. The entitlement in this post is staggering. WJ families are not entitled to anything more than other MCPS families. Wow.

I would agree with you, but I know how effective WJ cluster is - The WJ PTA cluster operates with corporate discipline. It's impressive. Westside parents are tired of having their magnet students on the bus to Blair every day. So this academic program analysis is very focused on travel time for students, to dovetail with this westside community point of view.

They are welcome to advocate but pretending they are specifically deserving of short bus rides over other families is disgusting

These WJ families would have the longest bus rides. I think you are missing the point here.

DP. I am certainly missing what the PP meant by "MCPS may renege on that." What exactly did they think they had been promised, and by whom? I can see why they would have preferred their outcomes be limited to either staying at WJ or being rezoned to Woodward, but clearly those were not the only possibilities here.

Having said that, I don't think the dreaded Option 3 will come to pass when all of this shakes out.

Nothing promised but certainly implied by those early surveys and discussions.

Otherwise the WJ families surely would have voted to stay and expand the current building.

So, they wanted to relieve the overcrowding by getting a new school… but only if the new school was full of the right kind of people.

The WJ Blair magnet students have long rides currently, which is why their parents are advocating for something else. That is the point.

WJ parents received the $220 million Woodward High School to relieve its overcrowding. Blair got 20+ portables and the likelihood of relieving its overcrowding by moving its high achieving students to Woodward once Woodward opens.

They could just send their kids to WJ... that would solve the problem and make Blair less crowded.

Einstein and Blair have no capacity.

Taylor and the BOE did nothing this year. Add them to the list to blame. Ultimately the BOE is accountable.

WJ has a huge amount of advanced and AP classes. There is no need for them to go to Blair. Don't like the commute, move. Why are you all good enough to come to our schools but we aren't to your schools?

You don't get to vote for anything in the survey. You put pros and cons of each option in as feedback.

I wrote on each of them that none of them are good options and that they need to focus on minimizing disruption, period.

One of the options was literally just stability.

Based on some people's embarrassing fealty and adoration for Taylor as the Great White Hope of MCPS. It's sad, really.

Well, it did not create stability…

What's your problem with #1 on the stability front? How would you do it better?

You have way more faith than I do. Everyone should be rallying against 3, and not just on DCUM.

Option 3 isn't happening.
