I need something to watch when I'm fried.
Love Young Sheldon, hate Big Bang Theory. Love 30 Rock, Ted Lasso, Letterkenny. Hate laugh tracks (or "live studio audience") It makes the acting stilted when all their lines are written to *wait for laugh* Basically I'm looking for snappy, funny writing. No over-reliance on dumb stereotypes. Tall order, I know. |
Ghosts is really fun. There's a US version and the UK show it's based on.
Have you seen Shrinking? It's got a lot of crossover from Ted Lasso. I find it less fun and charming but a lot of people love it. Loot with Maya Rudolph is fun and goes down very easy. Two seasons so far. It's not perfect by any means but I really enjoy it. Oh, if you want something really silly and good - Detroiters! With Sam Richardson and Tim Robinson. I freaking loved that goofy, heartfelt show. |
How do you hate BB Theory?
lol Ok Abbott Elementary is good Loot |
Superstore, Abbott Elem, Shrinking, Hacks, Somebody Somewhere. |

Ghosts or The Office. Brit or American version
|
Schitts Creek is great. |
Ghosts definitely. The US version is lighter hearted than the UK one.
Abbot Elementary could fit the bill. Sheryl Lee Ralph alone makes that show worth watching. Brooklyn 99, Andre Braugher was fantastic on it. Grace and Frankie - goes a bit off the rails but the first season is worth watching. Schitt's Creek - first season doesn't quite come together but the show takes off in the second season (particularly after Patrick shows up). |
I forgot to add: The Good Place. |
Life in Pieces
The Middle Hacks |
Thank you! In case it narrows things further:
I liked Schitt's Creek I loved Shrinking, The Good Place, and Brooklyn 99. Hated Grace and Frankie (this is an example of facile stereotypes that make me stabby) Abbot Elementary is... fine. I used to live in Philly and I love the redhead with criminal connections. I'll check out Detroiters and Ghosts, thank you! |
Not sitcoms but Bunheads and Younger!! Both with Sutton Foster. Bunheads is on Hulu, by the same people who did Gilmore Girls so very snappy. It's 18 episodes only though, they stupidly did not renew it. Younger is a very fun show on Netflix about the NYC publishing industry. It's funny, delightful and dynamic. Even my dh loved it. |
I agree with the Younger recommendation. Light and enjoyable.

Silicon Valley (HBO) is one of the funniest shows ever, up there with IMO with 30 Rock. |
I remember the time when sitcoms from the past 10 years didn’t mean Netflix or Hulu, but nbc,cbs and abc
Like 30 Rock and New Girl and The Wonder Years (90s) |
