Palestinian Columbia student detained by ICE is released, and has a message for Trump

Anonymous
Mahdawi is a Columbia University student, green-card holder, and lawful permanent U.S. resident who grew up in a Palestinian refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. He was arrested and detained by masked immigration agents after his naturalization interview in Vermont His attorneys have said he was detained in retaliation for exercising his free speech rights in advocating for Palestinian human rights during campus protests last year against the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza.

"And I am saying it, clear and loud," he said. "To President Trump and his Cabinet, I'm not afraid of you."

Over what? Guy got bail. Has no bearing on the ultimate disposition of his case.

Ball? WTF are you talking about? He wasn't arrested for any crime, and there was no bail - he was ordered released by a federal judge. He simply showed up to his naturalization hearing.

Go away, zionist ignoramus.

“[The judge] ordered Mahdawi released on bond while his…proceedings continue.”

Has no bearing whatsoever on the ultimate disposition of the case.

Facts make you mad?

Rubio does not need a reason to revoke his status. I guess he had decided he is okay with returning to the West Bank.

“Chosen People”? Ugly stuff.

Foreigner comes to US, founds terrorist-supporting organization (CUAD) that calls for “instruction” from “militants in the Global South”.

Foreigner gets detained pending deportation.

Foreigner receives due process and is released on bond pending adjudication on the merits.

Nothing particularly surprising here.

I think it's terrible that Green Card holders are now having a hard time because Republicans are rejecting future citizens for their imagined thoughts alone. It's un-American.

Would you feel the same way if German white supremacists were protesting outside of black churches?

Didn’t think so.

Not ugly - hideous.

So why is it repeatedly a self-proclaimed title or mantra throughout the very texts they point to as their raison d'être?

Bad analogy

American universities and institutions are only unofficially the property of Israel.

I dunno. Why do the Hadiths include calls for killing all the Jews?

Exactly analogy.

There’s only one question here:

Can the US government deport foreigners for speech/protests?

Yes or no?

If no, you have to live with foreign white supremacists targeting minorities.

If yes, then the foreign white supremacists are out but so are Khalil and Mahdawi.
