Is it normal to gain weight like this?

Is it normal to gain weight if you eat chocolates, cookies and chips everyday?

I can’t maintain my weight if I eat all those things per day.

But I see people posting themselves being around cakes and all these kinds of foods everyday and not gaining. Are they not eating it or is there soemthing wrong with me?

It depends on the quantity, and how many calories you eat.

If you burn 2000 calories/day with just existing + some exercise, you can eat 2000 calories of junk and not gain weight.

If you also eat three full meals, yes you will gain weight.

Of course.

Every time I take a bite of something, unless it's lettuce, body releases insulin to counter the sugar. Those insulin spikes lead to weight gain for me and also make me feel like crap.
I can feel 'sugar racing through me'. Beer is the worst with all the carbs. Not sure why it does nothing to you.
Eating a slice of cake after meal is not as bad ad eating the same cake one bite at the time every few hours.

Late 40s, I eat a bit of chocolate or the equivalent of a cookie everyday. Some sort of chips most days. I don’t gain.

Also, people posting pictures of themselves “around” these things does not mean they’re eating sufficient quantities of them to gain weight.

No, you won’t.

I don't post pictures but I'm someone who likes to bake and eat what I bake. A) I don't eat a lot of it. When my family gets a slice of cake, we'll generally share it. B) I'm generally very physically active. I find the best thing for my anxiety is cardio so I do things like biking or rowing pretty much every day, and I like to do long hikes. C) I avoid calorie bombs in other areas and rarely drink soda or alcohol.

Are you watching Instagram reels of super skinny people who run foodie pages of them eating their way through every bakery in their city? Yeah I see those and I’m immediately jealous too. BUT we don’t see their whole day. They may take one bite and share the rest or throw it out. That may be all they are eating all day. I don’t drink coffee with sugar though I prefer it. If I treat myself to a coffee with sugar I drink it ALL. I’ve seen friends who order a coffee and sip it and sometimes throw half of it away. I have learned myself and what I need. You can’t compare yourself to others because we all have different metabolisms and hormones that tell us when we are full and levels of activities and rates of digestion. So…stop comparing and find out what YOU need.

I’m about to rock your world buttercup

Social media IS NOT REAL LIFE.

This. But also? Maybe they’re having a single bite of something and no more. That’s what my mother does; amazing willpower and thin as a rail. I am not like her and am prone to eating my emotions, so avoid those foods altogether.

OP, my husband and teenager can eat sweets, chips, etc. to their hearts content. My husband has an incredible metabolism and struggles to keep weight on. My kid is an athlete and needs the calories. Obviously it’s preferable to eat healthier options — and they do — but both also have a sweet tooth.

I’ve eaten like them “just because it’s there”and gained 10 lbs. I went back to eating according to my actual needs and cravings, and it came off in a few months.

Eat according to your body and needs; not someone else’s.

It just depends on your metabolism. People around here really don’t understand how much metabolism can vary. Most of my life I could eat like crazy, and never gain a pound. When I grew up, I was super skinny, and I was self conscious about it, and I would come home and eat an entire box of kraft macaroni and cheese and then ice cream with a jam on it in order to try to gain weight. This was as a snack in the afternoon, before I ate dinner.I don’t even like ice cream, lol. I’ve never had a sweet tooth. In my mid 30s, I went on psych meds, and started putting on weight. I gained about 90 pounds. It’s a sad story, and I’m working on it, but my metabolism completely changed as a result of the medication.

So yeah, some people can eat like crazy and never gain a pound. And some people can barely look at food and gain weight.

It all just depends on what kind of little powerhouses your cells are.

I can feel this too. I thought I was the only one, lol. Or maybe that I was imagining it. It is definitely not pleasant.
