Why would anyone want to come back to a government job when you know the next Republican will slash your job again?

It is going to take a minimum of 30-40 years for the country to recover from trump's reign of terror. All of the MAGA House and Senate will have to be gone plus at least 50% of the MAGA electorate will need to join the great MAGA afterlife in Hades.

This is part of the problem. The entitlement to a federal government job.

If these jobs are essential, why wouldn’t the Dems fight tooth and nail to bring them back? Even after 2026 when they regain Congress, won’t they work to bring them back? If not, then what’s the point of putting all our energy crying about these lost government jobs? Maybe many functions will be handled by other agencies or private sector?

My guess is that each cabinet agency and each office within will be rebuilt from the ground up, but in a more more efficient manner. The other question that will need to be seriously evaluated is if rebuilding the government to do more in-house is better or worse than the current condition of outsourcing so much to the consulting firms at many times the cost to the taxpayer.

The other big issue is putting new rules in place to ensure how we got to this point never happens again.

We can speculate or just wait until 2029 to find out for sure. At least Dems are guaranteed of retaking The White House in 2029 thanks to Trump.

What needs to happen is a better definition of what is and isn’t inherently governmental work.

There are a lot of other things they have to do when they take back the White House.
Bring back Garcia if he is still alive. Restart CFPB. Tear down the wall. Get rid of tariffs(which Biden didn't do in his term).
