Stop. This is how one dem responded. |
Look which account tweeted this out. It's the House Dems. I swear. I think nothing could be worse than Republicans then Dems decide to do something like this. Every person involved with this should be fired. |
Eh, I disagree. On the other thread it shows how many Republicans think tariffs are good or are unsure. Without saying “all tariffs are bad,” which could be misconstrued as anti-Trump, he’s pointing out where Trump and the GOP have failed. Trump has NOT said anything about helping businesses survive the tariffs of how the increased tariff $$ can help build factories. He is pointing out the lack of a plan.
However, he’s talking much nuance that people don’t get. He needs to say, “tariffs are harmful the way Trump is instituting them because there’s no plan. They’re too broad. We will pressure him to revoke the majority of tariffs, but the Dems are also fighting for good jobs and lower prices for Americans who are struggling, and working to increase manufacturing where it makes sense.” |
Some tariffs, if done right and very selectively, are fine. What Trump i doing is not fine. Get it? |
Are ALL of you this miserably bad at comms? You think TODAY when the market is melting down and people are finally turning against Trump because of tariffs - TODAY is the day to be like "but akshully in some cases we LIKE tariffs dur dur nuance dur."
NO! WHY? Today is the day to cry from the rooftops that Trump just made every person in America - except himself - poorer! |
Unlike subsidies which are uniformly bad, get it? |
Yeah, I posted above how he’s using too much nuance, and I agree the tucking is bad. But, I think it could backfire if they lash out on this page, individually it’s fine. Maybe it’s me: I’m getting tired of the outrage. I want to go to the rally tomorrow in peace. Outrage is tearing us apart. Though ask me again next week. |
My friend: I am not asking you for a nuanced debate about tariffs. I am asking you to imagine you are the House Democrats, putting out political messaging today. Can you imagine working on messaging? Can you imaging you aren't a think tanker or a policy wonk, but someone who is trying to communicate with the public and maybe even win elections? |
Hopeless. Dems are just hopeless. I'm sorry it's true. |
+1 Dems can be too smart for our own good. Somehow Dems manage to underestimate and overestimate the general public at the same time. Leave the nuanced communications for another day. Strike an emotional chord when the opportunity arises. |
You can’t approach any idea beyond an 8th grade level or you are going to get half of America confused. |
Yes! Jesus - thank you. My gd. |
Not only do they need to appeal to emotion, but they need to assume most people have a limited understanding of government and economics. |
And also - why in the living hell would Dems decide to adopt Trump's least popular policy position as their own right now. |
