| The Brookfield area is so run down and old looking. I hate that area. |
|
Creating an attendance island out of an apartment development where low income kids live and moving them from (closer) CVHS to (farther away) Westfield, and then moving only the low income area of Brookfield from CHS to Westfield, while leaving wealthier neighborhoods who are closer to Westfield put is frankly some 1950s era crap. Those were the only areas actually moved to Westfield, besides the sliver of Cub Run currently zoned to CHS. Look at the Westfield boundary shape. Its ridiculous.
Not sure if its one person pulling the strings or if Seema Dixit has co-conspirators, but its offensive. |
Agree 100%. Didn’t they try to do something similar with Kingsley Commons in Falls Church - turn a low-income apartment complex into a new attendance island that would end up being bused a longer distance to a different school? It’s indeed offensive. Reid and the School Board should be deeply ashamed. |
Seriously. Don't run people who want to ban books, make fun of autistic kids or say ADHD doesn't exist. Run people who present real solutions and they might have a chance. |
Agree. Any moderate or independent challenger should be able to beat Seema Dixit. Focus on issues that actually impact most families, return emails, be willing to answer hard questions, and actually engage with all your constituents, not just the ones who live in your neighborhood and your friends. |
Meanwhile, it would be nice if Dems endorsed competent people who focused on academics and were not hypocrites. I dont think Dixits opponent is GOP. She spoke at SB meeting last night. |
| Maybe its an irate Westfield parent. |

When is the boundary vote? When will the final
Map be released. Can we still comment on the final map. Thanks in advance |
from her testimony, I think it is a Centreville parent. |
Seema is taking care of Centreville HS at the huge expense of her other school, Westfield. Centreville parents should be thrilled. The only kids she is moving out are low income families, and somehow the renovation/expansion has not been canceled yet, despite 800 planned open seats right next door at Westfield. |
Kingsley Commons walked to Graham Rd , then FCPS built a new school and bussed it to that site which is in the Timberlane attendance area. Any walkers for the new Graham Rd are bussed elsewhere. Parts of Timberlane that go to Mclean might actually be near or in a walk zone for Shrevewood. Walney Oaks is an HOA and for any given school you can add up the small HOAs or SPAs and the sum becomes significant for overcrowding. Found by Thru and the petition excluded the townhouses https://www.change.org/p/stop-the-rezoning-of-walney-oaks-students-to-westfield-hs |
I really don't get the point here of your post. Not trying to disparage, but do not understand. |
|
We can't add up the SPA numbers because FCPS did not release those details for the current boundary study. But Westfield went down 3% points of usage from when they first published the scenarios to when they took them down to delete Walney Oaks, so assuming its around 90 students in that area.
90 academically minded students would do a lot to boost Westfield's access to courses based on where FCPS is planning on leaving Westfield. |
Its the same person who posts these weird rants every day. I think its a day drinker. |
I have a child at Carson this year and we've been really pleased with his experience there. My younger child will most likely be at Franklin, and frankly, we're said about it. The teachers my son has had at Carson have been A+ and a friend who used to teach middle school said that it is the school that middle school teachers WANT to work at. Franklin has a perfectly fine reputation, but we've really liked Carson. I especially like the team groupings and that the teachers teach all three levels of a class (e.g., there are no dedicated AAP teachers, they all teach AAP). |
