Creating an attendance island out of an apartment development where low income kids live and moving them from (closer) CVHS to (farther away) Westfield, and then moving only the low income area of Brookfield from CHS to Westfield, while leaving wealthier neighborhoods who are closer to Westfield put is frankly some 1950s era crap. Those were the only areas actually moved to Westfield, besides the sliver of Cub Run currently zoned to CHS. Look at the Westfield boundary shape. Its ridiculous. Not sure if its one person pulling the strings or if Seema Dixit has co-conspirators, but its offensive.
Agree 100%. Didn’t they try to do something similar with Kingsley Commons in Falls Church - turn a low-income apartment complex into a new attendance island that would end up being bused a longer distance to a different school? It’s indeed offensive. Reid and the School Board should be deeply ashamed.
Kingsley Commons walked to Graham Rd , then FCPS built a new school and bussed it to that site which is in the Timberlane attendance area. Any walkers for the new Graham Rd are bussed elsewhere. Parts of Timberlane that go to Mclean might actually be near or in a walk zone for Shrevewood. Walney Oaks is an HOA and for any given school you can add up the small HOAs or SPAs and the sum becomes significant for overcrowding. Found by Thru and the petition excluded the townhouses https://www.change.org/p/stop-the-rezoning-of-walney-oaks-students-to-westfield-hs
I really don't get the point here of your post. Not trying to disparage, but do not understand.
