Former NCRC parent here - we can’t blame students or faculty for not detecting Carroll; however at this point we can judge how NCRC handles this crisis - so that there is transparency, open dialog, a third party inspector to do a sweep of the school, and that parents feel safe and heard.

In the Dc metro area, with thousands of schools, name 5 cases where this happened at a preschool. I know you think it’s common place but no it isn’t something that happens often here with guys working in preschools. When there is something, to act like let’s alienate an entire gender from working with kids is mob mentality and mass hysteria at it’s finest. |
Transparency and open dialog:
1. Forum where parents can ask third party investigators any Q. 2. Public record of the meeting. 3. Parents are not coerced into silence. 4. Accountability - background check company who vetted him; review admin emails if concerns expressed to Judith or admin about him or teacher hugs/ any feelings of violation of consent; By being open, you instill confidence that the school is addressing rather than denying / suppressing the truth. |
Okay, let's not start being offensive to others because you're traumatized. Perhaps if you weren't an atheist you would be better equipped to deal with trauma in your life. Because offending others isn't a healthy way to do that. |
They should have closed the school and reopened it after a professional sweep, not after a sweep by a staff member. |
gross. and no doubt that was a coordinated effort by a group of parents connected to the board. yet another demonstration in real time of how these situations can be left to fester - when there is pressure to “support the school!!!” and pressure to be positive only. |
What red flags did he show? Probably none. This post is ridiculous. |
will they create a culture that values criticism and doesn’t stifle anything that isn’t positive and “supportive”? or will they create a tone at the top where anything that detracts from the image of the school is quashed? I have my doubts since by definition elite private schools depend on their reputation and aura of specialness. |
The best way to support the school is to have open third party investigation; if there is nothing on the servers there is nothing to cover up; people can send kids to school with confidence of a thorough investigation leaving no stone unturned.
This is an amazing school and conmunity, it is hard to look at the warts and all, but we must if we want the school to have longevity. Carroll was only there for a small fraction of the school’s history and we should not allow him to bring down the school. |
you also have to change the school culture to ensure everyone is comfortable raising issues and they are addressed instead of swept under the rug. |
What if…just if…Carroll:
A) Suppressed his predilection until recently B) Limited his illness to online forums In the unlikely but not impossible case that both are true, there was no way for parents, teachers, psychics, board members, friends, employers or the IRS to know of his illness. While that will send the finger-pointing virtue signaling keyboard warriors into a frenzy, sometimes there’s not a satisfying answer to very difficult and disturbing situations. |
Any cameras in the back stairs? It might, but nobody answered this question. Current parent - I took my child to their classroom every day this week and paid attention to the camera placements. I did see cameras in the stairs. |
Good that you followed your gut. That’s what it takes to keep monstrous predators away from your child. It’s not your job to find concrete evidence of a child sex abuser lurking as the head of a preschool. Professional investigators do that job. It is your job to protect your little child. |
In the affidavit, Carroll says a lot of his (completely disgusting) desires were things he did as a boy in boarding school. If you can stomach it, NCRC and Beauvoir parents should read it. He says many disturbing things, instructing the FBI agent to make it a game. These desires have been with him for a lifetime. Both schools and kids who have been alone with him need to be completely thoroughly investigated. |
While he is also clearly a victim of sick British boarding school culture, it's clear from the affidavit that he thinks it's all sort of normal for young boys to experience. Deeply, profoundly concerning. |
