Single Issue Voter: Controlling The Borders

Exactly. Time to stop this Silicon Valley charade.

And now we have it. New York Times claiming that importing millions of desperate workers lowers wages for US workers AND helps reduce inflation .

So much for liberal media supporting US workers.

I consider labor shortages wonderful. I have never known anything bad to come from a labor shortage, and what we are doing with our immigration policy is keeping the labor market in constant surplus.

The underlying truth about the immigration battle is that is is fundamentally between those with an insatiable appetite for more cheap, disposable, foreign workers, and those who embrace the social good of tight labor markets.

Anyone who thinks importing millions, yes, millions of unskilled migrants, most of whom entered this country illegally is a positive for the US is bonkers.

I am fiscally conservative and I like these numbers. So if I were single issue, Gee then Dem it is, to quote PP.

OMG!!!!!

The article says Immigrants. It does not say Illegal Immigrants (Migrants). So perhaps Legal immigrants who come here and work contribute much more to the treasury than is taken out. Sure. I’m a legal immigrant and have been working here for past 24 years. But my family was screened, and we entered the USA the right way.

I’ll rust the NY Mayor, Adams, who says they have a crisis and the Illegal Immigrants who are paying ZERO in taxes will cost the city 2 Billion dollars this year to house, feed, and take care of them. That is just the 40k migrants they have in NY! How about the other 1-2 million that have come here since last year?

Uh, illegal immigrants pay sales and other taxes but are otherwise not in the system, so whatever they pay in, they get zero out.

Many undocumented immigrants have work permits that allow them to work while awaiting their asylum hearings. These "illegal" immigrants most definitely do pay income taxes. The housekeepers, landscapers, construction workers etc. who get paid in cash don't pay income taxes, but they do pay taxes on everything they consume.

I won’t vote for anyone associated with the Democratic Party. So there.

Fortunately, there are far fewer Republicans than Democrats.

But if I was going to pick one issue? Gun control. More specifically banning assault weapons.

Bingo. That's my issue too. Get rid of assault weapons now. Have a buyback program, and get rid of all of them. No one needs an automatic weapon.

Biden has dedicated more money to border control.
He has authorized more drones and other equipment as requested from DHS.
He has more drug recovery than Trump.
He has more human interdictions than Trump.
He has more deportations than Trump.
He has invested more in Central America to address the root issues of people wanting to emigrate.

So to answer your question, you should be voting Democrat.

Uh, no.

Democrats have all 3 branches of government for the past 2 years…this problem got out of control with Biden in charge. So if so lot understand how having open borders and having millions of people cross over will be better by having Democrats staying in control?

Also throwing more money at the problem like more, judges, agents, surveillance won’t fix the issue if another 2million people cross the border next year. How many 100’s of billions of dollars do yo you want to spend on this? How many more crowded schools do you need that can’t get the kids in? How many more hotels in NY will be filled with migrants? Why is there suddenly billions of dollars available for this when we did not have billions of dollars to help our homeless, veterans, minority communities???????

Are you forgetting the Caravans during the Trump years? How short our memory is.

And...the Dems have offered an immigration reform bill that covers a lot of issues, but guess who votes against it? The GOP. Why? Because they want to keep people like you angry, rather than, you know, dealing with the problem.

Also, you say "uh, no" but the facts matter, the current Administration has recovered more drugs, indicted more people, deported more illegal people, etc than the Trump Administration did. Maybe research it a little before commenting next time.

Unfortunately your statistics degree sucks.

Let’s go with the drug issue…

So let’s say Trump was able to capture 20 percent of the drugs crossing the border and Biden was able to capture the same percentage.
Then let’s say under Trump, the illegals crossing the border in year 2000 were 500k and year 2022 were 1 million people.
The. You are capturing more drugs BECAUSE yo I have double the people crossing the border illegally!

The increased investment in South and Central America is not helping as number of crossing are doubled.

There are more interaction because you have double the people crossing illegally.

So quoting that you are collecting more drugs, deporting more people, etc. is not a good thing… it means you have MORE people coming here illegally hence the Increased numbers.

You’re making a lot of assumptions to paint the hateful GOP in a good light and doing the most to ignore the fact that the GOP won’t actually address immigration. Why? Because you’re a rube and you’ll vote for them for hating brown people even as their donors make all their money from the work of undocumented brown people.

Oh and I’m a single issue voter. I vote for sanity. I vote for the party that trusts women rather than wanting to make torture porn about them dying in childbirth, I vote for the party that believes in global warming and wants to do something about it. I vote for the party that funds strong public schools. Only a crazy person votes for the GOP on any issue at all.

DP.
I vote for sanity as well. And, right now, the Dems are bat$hit crazy. Abortion up until birth? No thanks. Global warming? That has become a religion to the left. Strong public schools? I am all for that, but we have been throwing money at them with very poor results. I am for school choice. And, I am a former public school teacher.

And, as for your racist comment about "brown people" coming across the border...... We have seen people from over 140 countries coming in. They are not all brown. In fact, there has been a big surge in Chinese nationals coming in illegally. And, Russia. And, other "non-brown" countries. So, stop with the racist accusations.

FFS, stop with this idiocy. Stop spreading lies!! No one wants "abortion up until birth." Shove this crap up your a**. If you can't speak the truth, then stuff it.
Oh and BTW, climate change is burning up our planet, or are you too stupid to read anything except Fox and Breitbart?

If you don't, then please don't use that ugly, ugly, offensive word "illegals."

That article talks about asylum seekers. Not illegal immigrants.

Tomato tomahto

I personally work with Hispanic immigrants in our local community and they are some of the most generous, warm and family focused people I have ever met. I also personally have known and experienced so many totally F’d up American families that I just can’t understand why anyone would want to disparage immigrants like that. It’s just pure ignorance. Get out of your bubble and actually talk to some of these people before you spend so much time whining about them. We could learn from them and strengthen our communities and families but instead you trade insults and innuendo.

+ a billion
Most of the undocumented immigrants will be far better American citizens than are most Americans.

Truth hurts.

How much did Chuck E. Cheese Schumer, Obama, Joe, and Hillary spend on a wall to do the same exact thing? Total hypocrisy from Democrats:

Lol, Good Ol Joe bragging about building 700 miles of fence and all of the bad things coming over from Mexico.

Goes to show just how 99.9% of D and R politicians are all the same. Power hungry, greedy hypocrites that will flip flop like leaves blowing in the wind if it gives them a better chance at winning or holding a seat. If we could just get rid of all them and start over....

FTR, I’m a Dem.

While your list is correct, context matters.

Here’s the missing context: Trump effectively closed the border under the auspices of covid and his MPP (“stay in Mexico”) policy. Far less people entered the country during his term, and we certainly didn’t have thousands entering en masse as we do now. Plus, people didn’t send their unaccompanied children in the same numbers before or after Trump. You can see the data online.

Policy matters.

I’m not sure what the solution is when people send their kids with strangers to enter the US. There is no easy solution. They stay at shelters for a month or so waiting to be connected with relatives in the US. Then they go to school and have a normal life.

I don't know about your kids, but the "normal" life my kids have is nothing like the life these migrant children have, working at dangerous jobs for extremely low pay. Hardly normal. And many don't go to school because they have to work in order to eat.

So, what's your point?

Import more of these kids? Bring in all the kids in all the countries that have a poor quality of life for children?
What exactly is your point?
