| I'm not interested in spending more than $1000, so no thermadors or Mieles please. |

I bought this Bosch a couple years ago and it's the best dishwasher I have ever owned. The third rack at the top is a game changer. It's even cheaper if you don't mind the front controls but this one has hidden controls.

| I have a Bosch 800. I f$&ing hate the buttons and it smells, but I love the 30 minute cycle. I can’t live without it and it’s all I look for when I have to shop for one. So know what’s most important to you. |
I'd like to add that it was a learning curve to figure out how my dishes would load efficiently into the racks. It's a very different configuration that what I was used to with my old Whirlpool but I did figure things out. |

I have a Bosch 800 and I hate it so much.
I used to have a top of the line GE Profile (but we moved and replaced the crummy one that was here with the Bosch). I will never buy another Bosch |
Previous poster with the Bosch and I found that the short cycle leaves it smelling off and I have to run a full-length cycle regularly to keep it smelling good. I also rinse the filter under the hot tap regularly. I typically load it and start a full-length cycle just as I'm heading to bed at night. |
Any particular reason? |
| In 2020 I purchased a kitchenaid and love it. It’s quiet, has a 3rd rack, and top shelf that can be raised & lowered. Under 1k and the model is still selling: kdfm404kps |

The low end Bosch should be avoided. We are quite happy with our higher end Bosch. Ours does not include a 30 minute cycle. The fast cycle is about 75 minutes.
With *any* brand/model of dishwasher, we always have at least rinsed the food/sauce off of dishes before putting it in the dishwasher. |
Did it ever occur to you that the reason you hate your dishwasher is because you think a 30 minute cycle is long enough to actually clean your dishes? A proper cycle should run 90-120 minutes. |
No, the smell is not stinky like food it’s the plastic or something. Ozone? Idk but the regular cycle is actually worse as far as the smell. It has gotten a lot better since it was new and it’s not a deal breaker for me. I googled it to make sure it wasn’t installed wrong or something and found tons of complaints so I think it’s just a design flaw. The 30 minute cycle cleans beautifully. And, it’s so quiet. I use it all the time and I love it. If I don’t get to the breakfast dishes, I can put them in with the dinner cooking stuff and run it while we eat. Then I just empty and load a few plates. I also use it a lot during parties. Zero complaints about the 30 minute cycle and my point is I would prioritize it over anything else if/when I have to replace it. |
| Just bought the Wirecutter recommended Maytag and am REALLY impressed. |
How does it dry the dishes? Does it have an heating element -- though could be giving off an odor like ozone. We have a fancy dishwasher for various reasons, a Miele, and it dries dishes by rinsing the last cycle with crazy hot water and then popping open the door and evaporation dries everything. |
It has a heated dry option but mainly I just don’t ever notice or care if there’s a little water on stuff. Someone on this board said they dry everything that comes out with any water before putting it away and I don’t get why I would do that? Something just isn’t computing for me. If there are drops of water on something they just dry off on their own. I don’t see the issue. |
