For US parents whose kids applied to both US and UK/EU universities.
If you kid planning on going abroad? If so, which US schools are you giving up offers to go abroad? |
| I will try again…: IS your kid planning on going abroad? |
Yes. Applied to UCL, Edinburgh, St Andrews, Exeter and Durham. Also applied and accepted to a couple of t50 schools. So far, he has offers from Durham, Exeter and UCL. Awaiting Edinburgh and St Andrews. He is going and has completely given up on US schools. |
DS is going to Oxford. Was accepted at Stanford. |
How hard was the application process for Oxford? DC is planning to apply next year. |
Easy. Apply through UCAS by Oct 15. SAT or ACT has to be very high. Need a min of 3 x 5’s on AP. This is min. Better to show 5 plus AP’s at 5. Register for admissions test (depending on the Course). I think if u dont chose a College, Oxford assigns one. You cannot apply to both Oxford and Cambridge. Pick one |
My kid is a second year at Bocconi in Milan. He picked Bocconi over NYU and UVA. |
| After this week, hell yes ... UK here we come! |
You said just yesterday that he was waiting to hear from Oxford. I said that was impossible since interviews were mid december and results released in mid-Jan. Unless he received a conditional offer, which most do, and your tentstiveness reflected that. You didn't respond. Today you are saying he was accepted to both. So what is it? And conditional offer or no? |
Thanks! Very helpful. |
Oh, my. This is a big mistake. Like picking Cornell over Stanford… |
| In at Durham and St. Andrew’s, waiting on King’s. Staying in America… |
For grad school, yes, she is. And if she can stay and work, she won't come back |
I never said he was waiting on Oxford. It was an unconditional offer. |
Oh my….you dont even know the course and you are blabbering things you know nothing about…. |
