Why does Trump, an atheist, appeal to so many Christians?

Anonymous
Often, Christians look down on atheists, thinking they’re stupid or evil.

Meanwhile, a lot of Christians voted for Trump, an obvious atheist. Why do you think that is?

It's like how the Pharisees saw Pontius Pilate as a useful tool to do their bidding of crucifying Jesus. They like his policies, but not necessarily him.

This.

Why do you think he's an atheist? He was baptized and confirmed in the PCUSA and continues to profess Christianity.

I'm not saying he's moral. But even if he's immoral, that doesn't make him an atheist (obviously).

I know plenty of Christians who like him. They are mainly white male Christians though.

No, you are missing OP's point. The Pharisees did not claim that Pontius Pilate was a Jew just because he did their bidding.

The white Christians got tired of losing.

Carter was the last straw. Someone who actually believed and lived by Christ's teachings.

So now they are perfectly fine with backing the "strong" man whatever religion he is. And someone like Trump is just the logical end to that sort of thinking. Someone who is purely transactional. You vote for me and I'll give you the thing you want that doesn't cost me anything.

Too bad, being hypocrites made them lose their witness. I don't know anyone who isn't already a Christian who wants to do anything with them, except maybe the white supremacists. A national church would be right up their alley. They had one in Nazi Germany.

no, you missing OP's title

"Why does Trump, an atheist, appeal to so many Christians?"

OP is claiming Trump is not a Christian. What I stated about the Pharisees is 100% applicable to MAGA "Christians".

I know plenty who don't, including white male Christians.

Can we all stop painting with such broad brushes and using language that over inclusively suggests "all" of anything.

Sorry, Trump's ICE is painting a broad brush against Hispanic people by rounding up US citizens, some vets, along with illegal immigrants.

It appears applying a broad brush to groups of people is now the thing. Just following Trump's lead on that.

Because a lot of Christians (and non-Christians for that matter) are hypocrites. They think that by proclaiming themselves as Christians, they are automatically good people. It is the reason why I no longer go to church or subscribe to a religion at all. Despite 12 years of Catholic school. In Baltimore City....

Projection. They do not see him for who he is but as who themselves.

He is also a con man and has worked a con on them. He promises the moon.

Christianity in America has changed. It’s not about helping those in need. Christian churches have become political. Many pastors preach unrelenting right wing messaging from the pulpit. It’s pretty crazy.

Watch the documentary "Shiny Happy People" on Prime (I think). The last part talks about how these pastors/churches are trying to infiltrate the government. It's unsettling. And it appears to be working.

Religion has always been used as a means by men to control people.

Jesus was apolitical. Didn't care about politics, and He was also a law breaker, per the Pharisees.
