What exactly is the Best of? How is Philly Union in that, kind of unfair isn't it?

Best of = MLS , Next and ECNL teams playing against each other to see which teams and leagues have ‘the best.’

Unfair to have Philly Union in the tournament? Why would it be unfair?

FWIW- they lost to Solar ECNL 1-3.

So, I guess not all that unfair?

Many of these teams probably have had 1 or 2 training sessions since the winter break last year. Especially with the unavailable fields and Siberia cold

I doubt any serious coaches are out here this weekend trying to win trophies, versus getting ready for their league games.

Fact: Not a great weekend for MLS.

Look- whenever MLS Next
does poorly against ECNL they weren’t trying or didn’t practice.

Excuses, excuses.

As if the ECNL fields were not app snowed over for the past 3 three weeks.

Philly Union had their 2010's playing against 09's and using it as a pre-season training session.

Real MLS academies use it as an opportunity for development. What about the non-MLS academies that play MLSnext? Some pretty embarrassing scores are posted.

U15 results show very mixed results and one could objectively say that ECNL faired better - though they had more teams entered.

Just stop with the superiority and inferiority complexes. There are great teams in both ECNL and MLS Next. Also some not so great teams in both. The only substantial difference between the two teams is that MLS Next has the participation of the MLS Academies who have their pick of talent from their entire metro areas and beyond. Those teams are, of course, stronger. Other than that, find the right spot for your kid and stop trying to validate yourself through a patch on their shoulder.

The strange thing in literally every SHOWCASE my DS has played in since u-littles in various leagues and clubs, both teams were rotating to play everyone. Has anyone ever been to a showcase game where the coach sat someone on the bench? I would actually like to see an example...one example...anywhere.

Ok, the part about u-littles is a misstatement on my part, but the question still stands...has anyone been to a showcase where the starters got most of the minutes and there players who sat on the bench the whole game?
