Tiny or odd things that make your morning better

Anonymous
What are some small and/or odd things that you do the day or night before to help your mornings (especially busy work/school mornings) go more smoothly?

1) I set the breakfast table the night before
2) Sometimes I cut up fruit that I'm going to serve for breakfast the night before
3) We lay out outfits sometimes; this especially helps if we realize someone needs to do laundry for a gym uniform or something
4) I set up coffee the night before
5) We always pack lunches
6) I try to empty the drain board so that all the dishes from the dishwasher that still have a bit of water on them can go straight into the drain board

Anything you do that helps with the mornings?

My morning mood is often dependent on whether we did the dishes the night before or not. I typically load most of the dishes and DH runs it at the end of the evening. He forgot last night and it messed up my whole morning. On the rare morning I get up and we've run the dishwasher AND hand washed all the dishes AND there are no dishes drying by the sink - wow, fantastic

This isn't even a humble brag. It's just a brag, lol.

I would love to train my family on #6. Reminders have not stopped them from just putting dripping stuff on top of whatever is there, regardless if whether it had dried.

For me, a list of top 3 things I need to accomplish the following morning before lunch is helpful. Then I know what to jump into and don't let myself get sucked into email or news.

Xyz report to boss by 10 am
Project outline for March deadline
Reference letter for xx mentee

For weekends it's more like

Core workout
Thank you note for MIL
Season cast iron pan

Some days it's less than 3 but I try never to have more than 3. After accomplishing the 3 I get my break. Like now!

I don’t hand wash anything, I just put it all in the dishwasher.

I setup the coffee pot for the AM. Once I have my coffee, I can conquer the world.

Put the coffee on a timer, layout workout clothes the night before.

Occasionally make lunches the night before.

OP isn’t an overachiever… this is just what people did before generations became more focused on work and scrolling TikTok instead of “adulting.”

I get puppy mugged every morning. Nice way to start each day.

When the dog wakes me to go out an hour before I really want to get up, I boil the kettle so when I really get up it's already warm and boils again really quickly for my coffee.

For work (I wah) I make my check list for the following day so it's ready to be tackled. I start at 7.30/8am at latest and try to be done with all work (aside from meetings) by noon. For home: I put my kitchen to bed so it's all clean in the am when I get up, and really do this for all of my house.
