Bold of you to think a depressed person cares about other people ::eyeroll:: |
The senior pilot was depressed and was the one who cut the fuel to the engines. The junior co-pilot was flying the plane during takeoff and realized what had happened and tried to fix it, restarted the engines, but it was too late and he couldn't save the plane. Why did the depressed pilot crash the plane, killing himself and hundreds of other people? Because he was depressed and irrational. And did a terrible thing. |
I hope it does not come out that the “depressed” pilot shut off the airflow allowing fuel directly to the engines.
Because that would be an awful outcome to all the loved ones of those who sadly ➕ tragically perished on that doomed flight. It would also likely trigger lawsuits to whoever employed this person if he actually did in fact do this. |
You actually are perpetuating a stereotype that when someone is depressed they actually do not care if they hurt other people……or rather that they want to actually hurt other people!!? 👀 Yes we all have heard the common phrase “Hurt people hurt people,” however there are many depressed people who may want to die but not take anyone down along w/ them. Most people that do commit suicide do not take anyone down w/them just because so your logic is very flawed PP. |
Apparently the previous pilot to land this plane at that airport reported a malfunctioning of the fuel switches. So I'm not going to jump to any murder-suicide conclusions. |
+1.Also the Pilots Association has asked to be involved in the inquiry as the report has many loopholes. |
Link? |
No, the report is very solid and thorough. And very clear. |
There is a significant amount of denialism going on right now. Initially, there was a search for a mechanical cause for the crash because it didn't occur to most people that it could have been intentional. Now that the report has come out showing that it was, many people are trying to explain it away, find some other explanation, any other explanation. Pilots are revered in most or all cultures, held to incredibly high standards that they nearly all meet. No one wants to contemplate this scenario. Thankfully, pilot suicide is so rare that it can be counted on one or two hands. |
Depressed people don't kill 260 people. Narcissists do.
The captain knew what he was doing when he shut off the fuel. A horrible human being. A normal suicidally depressed person may off themselves. But only a narcissist takes 259 other people with them. I hope Air India and all airlines test pilots for empathy going forward. |
You aren't helping, friend. Mental illness is a difficult subject but both aviation and Indian culture are very difficult about it. Adding in your toxicity helps no one. |
