Initially, there was a search for a mechanical cause for the crash because it didn't occur to most people that it could have been intentional. Now that the report has come out showing that it was, many people are trying to explain it away, find some other explanation, any other explanation. Pilots are revered in most or all cultures, held to incredibly high standards that they nearly all meet. No one wants to contemplate this scenario. Thankfully, pilot suicide is so rare that it can be counted on one or two hands. [/quote]
