Are Patagonia Puffers tacky?

Anonymous
I bought this today:https://www.patagonia.com/product/womens-down-with-it-parka/196924734777.html?s_kwcid=17928&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=BB_Ecomm_Pmax_ALL_SPW_AllSportswear&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiA1eO7BhATEiwAm0Ee-Jbznt_710nF-33K5DWt358ydmmAc2grX-xQVgBINKD6Ks17Px7fNBoCK5sQAvD_BwE

I thought it would keep me warm in the freezing temperatures expected next week. But I went to the Galleria for a stroll and saw all these elegant women dressed in fur coats and sheepskin coats and wool coats. Lots of Mamont and Golden Goose puffers as well...

Is it better to get a nicer non-puffer coat for freezing temps?

It’s fine if you want to look like trash.

I don’t see the problem. It looks like a normal puffer. Puffers are practical and warm, not really a fashion item.

When it’s 15 degrees who really cares.

If you think an article of clothing is tacky... you're not operating on the same plane as most people. Dress how you want, OP, and don't be afraid of other people's judgements.

I’m also confused. You wore a practical puffer jacket in a neutral color - what is the question?

What’s tacky is not knowing how to include a link properly

Amen. There’s no bad weather, just badly dressed people.

Define tacky?

Yeah, we can’t comment on your tackiness because I’m not taking the time to copy the link.

I don't think that any functional jacket or coat is tacky.

Fur coats are much more tacky than a functional parka in freezing weather.

I saw a lot of fur coats at the grocery store. What is up?

Patagonia puffers are great outdoor activity coats. I tend to think of them for travel (very packable), hiking, skating, dog walking, etc. I’m guessing your average Galleria shopper isn’t an outdoor sport kind of person.

I just got back from skiing and took 3 coats- my ski jacket, a Patagonia equivalent puffer (Stio brand) for non ski activities, and a long down coat for evenings when it was very cold. Different coats for different purposes.

All puffers are tacky. Get a nice leather coat or a wool pea coat. Puffer coats only make you look fat. No one wants to look fat. Being fat is REALLY bad.
