Semaglutides ruining Christmas Cheer

Anonymous
Did anyone else experience this?

I attended some Holiday parties and had some family over for Christmas. There was lots of delicious food and drink at everything, but so much of it went unconsumed because it seems like everyone is on one of those semaglutides meds. I don’t remember so much unconsumed foods in the past. It just takes the joy out of the celebration.

Are you overweight or thin?

Didn’t see this.

And why would eating in moderation ruin a celebration anyway? Stop worrying about what others are eating.

I have diabetes and reflux. Don’t make so much food next time. It’s not a virtue to shove fat-laden, sugary food in massive quantities down people’s throats.

I'm not on those meds but I've been very successful lately losing weight, over 40 lbs in 6 months. I was very careful what I ate over the holidays because I want no setbacks, just progress.

I ate some really fun food that I don't normally eat, but not too much and selected carefully. I enjoyed my holiday eating! I indulged a bit but stayed under control.

If my eating experience ruined the events for anybody else, that's definitely their problem! Maybe there shouldn't be so much food at these things?

Do you have any friends taking them? I do. They don't eat in moderation, for the most part, they pick at the food and eat miniscule amounts. Like a lhalf cup of soup and two grapes, then talk incessantly about how great their weight loss triumph has been. I'ts not much fun to be around. I will caveat that by saying I'm pretty certain all of them are doing it mostly for vanity, so that might impact the behaviour.

Thin. BMI is 19

Maybe people need to start getting past the idea that holidays are about total gluttony and excess and start having more modest spreads.

I am on Wegovy and can’t drink alcohol. It tastes like battery acid, every type but especially wine. I can’t get a wine buzz and I really miss it. If I do sugar up a vodka drink I get a bad headache and sick stomach. Again, no buzz. Among other things it seems to be helping with alcoholism.
Take that you alcoholic fat shamers!!

The incessant talking about it sounds super annoying, but what they eat shouldn't impact your joy other than momentary frustration if you spent too much money on food.

Yeah, sounds like this is attributable to the kind of people you choose to hang around with, not the semaglutides.

I am taking Wegovy and my Christmas dinner was a portion of beef tenderloin (didn't finish the entire thing), mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, chocolate pudding, and a decorated sugar cookie. I also had a glass of wine. It was lovely.

Yeah, this is every meal now with friends on the shot. I’m not sure why they bother going out. It’s like hanging w a wet blanket and I’m sick of hearing how everything tastes “off.”

I just posted about my Christmas dinner. I couldn't tolerate any kind of alcohol for maybe 8 months, but that feeling has mellowed over time. I had a glass of wine with my meal. Didn't enjoy it the same way I once would have, but it was still nice.

Not OP but you don’t eat in moderation on Ozempic. You just stop eating.

Stop making such gluttonous amounts of food. And stop tying the Christmas joy you do or don’t feel to what others do or don’t eat.
