Every few months I find myself in depressive and angry episodes. I just can’t let things go that others would. I’ll
give an example. I experience some road rage by someone clearly upset about something else and flipping out and I was replaying it in my head for 24 hours, completely taken over by anger, could not sleep, etc. I have general anxiety and tend to spiral over small things when I’m in that place. I’ve tried ssri before but it’s not a good fit. What’s a good way to cope with this kind of thing. I hate that I cannot move on like a normal person. |
| Can you try guided meditation or something similar when you feel yourself ruminating? |
|
this was me. all the yoga and meditation and breath work only took the edge off. when i got my monthly period it got really really bad.
then i got on lithium and abilify. its such a relief. ssris did not work for me, but lithium does. work with a good psyc and see if you can find the correct med for you. i am also interested in trying ketamine therapy later in 2025. |

Drop the rock. AA big book 552. Anything about forgiveness.
Also? Change your self-talk. You absolutely CAN let things go, and should, and you don't need drugs to do it. You have mental conditioning and habits. Both can be altered with conscious, deliberate practice. And the whole "other would" bit is nonsense. Doesn't matter if others would or wouldn't (and it's probably impossible to know anyway). What matters is that you've identified a problem with your thinking. You can and should address it, because nothing changes if nothing changes. Try something. If it doesn't work, try something else. Quit making excuses for how you "can't" and just do. |

| I hope you figure it out. Weed/gummies works for me. |
| If you are between the ages of 35-55 I would consider that it’s hormonal and see your gynecologist. |
| Thanks I do think it’s hormonal. I’m very good at times about guided meditation and praying. I was raised by a negligent borderline narcissist so at times I feel like although I am very self aware my childhood has conditional me to spiral and have that kind of obsessive anger when I’m at my most stressed. |
Love this - thanks for sharing it. |

| Have you seen a psychiatrist? There are SSNIs and other medications that might help you. Try tracking it with your cycle too. Have you had a full blood workup? My hypothyroidism was contributing to my depression, and once that was managed, it got so much better. |
| This will sound lame but you should really try the basics of good sleep, consistent exercise and time walking/in nature before trying anything else. Commit to it for a month and see where it gets you. Meditation as well if you can. Nothing wrong with medication but even with that, having your nervous system and body in a regulated state is highly preferable. |
| I posted above and I also agree you should get a physical, bloodwork and work up and particularly look for anything that would spike your cortisol. Certain metabolic disorders, or sleep apnea. |

| I stopped taking the placebo pills in my BCP and that same feeling disappeared. How old are you? It could be hormonal. |
