This was about bryc from posting a bit earlier |
Thanks, I didn't know this tidbit. Probably explains why we were waitlisted. We won't be wasting our time and efforts with CCL then. I appreciate your feedback. |
Yeah, the RWFC teams were too competitive for the run of the mill ODSL teams. My son was on a team there last Fall and their fields have improved considerably. It was mainly dirt with lines and patches of grass, I think they always were going to join NCSL because their internal league that is structured more as a rec program is pretty much eliminated after U13. So a lot of their teams that wanted to keep playing joined ODSL, and after playing mainly against themselves in the same division, will now get some serious competition in NCSL. VISTA has always been in NCSL, but their teams are all organized independently, so without a coach willing to put together a team, they wouldn't be registering new teams. I interpreted this to mean more coaches are willing to put together teams and join the travel soccer scene as oppose to have their children and their children's teammates join the club travel soccer programs. For PWSI, their select teams have joined NCSL in the past, but their "Pride" teams are coached by a volunteer and essentially play under the PWSI umbrella, other than wearing their uniform and practicing on Woodbridge fields, they are entirely trained, organized, and coordinated by the volunteer coach and any other volunteer parents. While many parents are going the club route, I think it's good to see parent's willing to put in a little more effort and skip the handholding club model. |
You might be right, I didn't know CCL2 had events other than games. Looking at the schedule Beach does not play CCL2, so would make sense Rush wont either. One thing I saw is they have Richmond Strikers listed as a club when searching the schedule. Why are they listed ? I didn't think they had any teams in any of the CCL leagues. |
Different poster here. On the girls side bryc said they were entering only the u12 girls, which is what that list shows. |
They are not part of CCL and CCL2 but they do participate in Pro23 along with some other non-CCL clubs like A3, VDA and more. |
the list shows BRYC at 9, 10 and 11 as well. Unless that is an error on the NCSL side. |

Got the below from the FAQs from BRYC's website when some parents were concerned about the kids not being put into a league at BRYC. Funny that they ended up at NCSL anyway after telling everyone league play is not important etc etc. Do parents have to pay more now that they are in NCSL? 9. Would the club reconsider their plans to not have the younger ages play in a league? There is a benefit from playing in structured real games on a regular basis with a referee so the kids can learn the rules and have fun practicing the skills they learned during the training sessions. All age groups U9 – U12 will get official matches in events as this development model allows us to train the players to learn the game (rules) in an environment that is more conducive to player and team development. 11. Will the decision to not play in a league at the younger ages reduce club fees for those ages? No; the league fee is a very small portion of the annual fee paid into the club (about 6%). The club is planning to include event fees and fees for ScrimmageFest league into annual fees paid into club. |
EDP has strong competition and is well run. Your games are all self-schedule to coordinate dates/times with teams in MD, PA, and some VA teams. Much better competition and flexibility than the other leagues in the area. |
For the 2017-2018 season, BRYC does not have a U13 boys ECNL team. The U13 are only in NCSL. Unless they are able to recruit for next year, BRYC won’t have a U14 boys in ECNL for 2018-2019. They lost most of their quality players as well as a coach, so they didn’t want to field an ECNL team for the age group this year. |

what was this first quoted comment in reference to? I mean i get the gist, but dont understand the specific context of the statement. Is the discussion about training alongside the teams pre-tryouts or ID sessions or what? |
Thanks a lot for your feedback. We have played a few EDP teams from MD at recent showcases and I gotta say I was quite impressed with the level of play and how competitive they are. I'm not too worried about logistics as our manager is great, but I wanted someone to attest to the level of competition. I've also heard that the referees are stellar compared to what we currently see in NCSL. Thanks again, your feedback was much appreciated. ![]() |
you have to make sure to attend the pre-pre-pre-pre-pre elite travel tryout regional ID session at U-3 to get to know the coaches early on in the process. |
