VHSL Boys Lacrosse 2026 Season

I know i'm dating myself with this one, but we need to bring back the PowerPoint System from the 1990's and early 2000's.

Robinson had full control early and let Yorktown back in it. You can excuse that in a first game, but it’s something to watch going forward. Yorktown feels a bit overrated based on the last poll, didn’t see consistent 6v6 offense until later. YT#3 is solid, but not a game-breaker. If I’m picking, I’m taking Robo #8.

Madison handled Langley convincingly. Even if Langley #8 plays, I’m not sure it changes the outcome. Bigger concern is Langley’s defense and goaltending, giving up 15yd high-to-high is a red flag regardless of defensive breakdowns.

All that said, if Madison looks that strong against Langley, and Indy just handled Madison last week, there’s a clear #1 right now, and they didn’t even play this week.

Early take: 6A state champ likely not coming out of Fairfax. Look toward Battlefield, Independence, and Cosby.

In a room of 100 people you would be the only one who picks #8

Well maybe 98 people on your side. I like 8 Robinson too.
I watched 3 back off a gb to avoid a hit. Weak.

8 is a lacrosse player, 3 is a scorer.

Agreed. RIP Lax Power.

Laxnumbers has a power ranking system. It only goes live once teams have a few games played.

The PowerPoint system was different, and would have to be adjusted, as back then there was one VHSL State Championship. But, in a 16-Team Bracket
The top 4 seeds, were the winners of the District Tournaments.
5-16 was a seeding of teams based off of wins and losses against quality opponents.
Usually the seeds 5-7, were top teams , so 5 would normally beat 4 in the 2nd round.
But, the best 8 Teams and then best 4 Teams would keep advancing regardless of what District you played in.
The Top 2 Teams for Region A & B, and the Top 2 Teams from Region C & D would then match-up with each other, and the two winners would play in the State Champioship

They got rid of this system, as the AD's at the schools who were not strong in lacrosse complained that only their District Champion made the list of 16, and each District
should have equal representation.

I do not think they have been finalized, however since the Jubilee includes Baseball, Softball, Soccer and Lacrosse all held in the same location these could be the 2026 sites:
Class 1-2: Salem
Class 3: Abingdon
Class 5-6: Loudoun County

No class 4 mentioned** (for lacrosse 1-4 is grouped)

Games coming up today and over the weekend?

Random thought but reminds me of Loudoun Valley vibes with 'VA and 'Cuse commits when they joined back in 2007-08.

The best district in the State might be the 5A Potomac District this year. Indy was there last year, and replaced by Freedom-SR
Riverside
Stone Bridge
Freedom-SR
Briar Woods
Lightridge (maybe)

Besides Riverside and Freedom all the rest of those teams are cheeky. Point proven though - There isn't really a "Best District" Everyone has their alphas and co-runner with very little depth below them.
