Goalie will be a problem for YT all year. They got good play from the faceoff X, but were sloppy with the ball and didn’t get much creation from anyone but 3. I expect they’ll look better in most games this year. Robo’s defense is strong even outside of the Penn State commit, and will keep them in any game this year. |

Hayfield 3 Hayfield's Head Coach - Coach Mercer Resigned and stepped down on monday, the day before Hayfields first game. Does anyone know what's going on? Seems odd for a head coach to step down the day before their first game. Then Hayfield gets smoked by an average team. Seems like the National will run through Edison this year. Hayfield was close to elite two years ago, what happened? |
Substance beats hype. Madison's best players ran sweeps that Langley's defense never figured out to stop, and Madison knows "if it ain't broke don't fix it." Langley's offense couldn't do much if it wasn't transition, and I doubt they ever made more than 6 passes in a row without a drop or turnover. Go Warhawks! |
| Riverside will lose to Potomac Falls this year I guarantee it. |
8 looks like Robos guy this year. Is he commited? |
| York for Robinson #8. |
| Madison gave Langley the belt last night, that was embarrassing. Half time was 9-2. final was 14-7. What even is a Saxon. |

Watched Yorktown vs Robinson and Madison vs Langley. No ties to any program, just observations.
Robinson had full control early and let Yorktown back in it. You can excuse that in a first game, but it’s something to watch going forward. Yorktown feels a bit overrated based on the last poll, didn’t see consistent 6v6 offense until later. YT#3 is solid, but not a game-breaker. If I’m picking, I’m taking Robo #8. Madison handled Langley convincingly. Even if Langley #8 plays, I’m not sure it changes the outcome. Bigger concern is Langley’s defense and goaltending, giving up 15yd high-to-high is a red flag regardless of defensive breakdowns. All that said, if Madison looks that strong against Langley, and Indy just handled Madison last week, there’s a clear #1 right now, and they didn’t even play this week. Early take: 6A state champ likely not coming out of Fairfax. Look toward Battlefield, Independence, and Cosby. |
In a room of 100 people you would be the only one who picks #8 |
I'm a little surprised by this one. Thought LB would be much much better this year and would certainly be in the same tier as Chantilly. Anyone got a read on this one? Chantilly has beaten Bruins last couple seasons but its seemed closer. Bruins offense was the question mark? Defense is stout or should be |
|
Chantilly’s offense is solid.
Agreed that best team in the area appears to be Independence. Battlefield is closer than the Fairfax schools, but not that much closer. No idea if Cosby is going to be competitive this year or not, but if they look anything like last year’s team, then agreed. |

Did the Cedar Run district (Independence, Battlefield, Patriot, Gainesville) quietly just become the best district in the area?
Random thought but reminds me of Loudoun Valley vibes with 'VA and 'Cuse commits when they joined back in 2007-08. |
In short, no. The top team is there, haven’t seen enough from Battlefield to declare them on Indy’s level. Cedar run just doesn’t have the depth of other districts. |
What other district is better? |
Top to bottom, Liberty, Patriot, Concorde. Tough argument to have though because it’s very hard to define what “better” entails. |
