GZ is now the clear favorite with the strong fogo and goalie.

Are you the GZ goalie or Fogo’s dad? You keep posting this over and over.

Must be. The fogo is a D3 commit and don’t know where goalie is going.

Anonymous wrote:People say this is a down year for DC lacrosse. I’d argue it’s an awesome year. Bullis, Landon, Prep, DeMatha, Gonzaga, SJC all pretty much playing each other to a 1 goal margin. That type of parity and any given day is awesome for the game. Awesome for the area. These kids are getting tested in more high pressure games, makes for better players better teams.

I agree. Great spring for area lax.

SJC players were loudly and classlessly chirping at DM and talking trash in warm ups and throughout the game (well beyond normal teenage banter). Their junior SSDM headhunter who leads the conference in cross checks to the face was benched in the first half (not for his dirty play; they apparently reward him for that at SJC), after getting repeatedly beat, and that was when SJC was up by 3. SJC can say it is because OC wasn’t there; but maybe it’s because karma was. Their attitude was crazy arrogant. The face off disparity (15 to 3) and the second half / OT goaltending (5 goals to 1) were the difference. Today SJC was severely outclassed at those two positions. A tough hard fought very equal game where the officiating was absent (almost no penalties) came down to those two spots on the field and today that led to a DM victory. For how much that one SJC dad keeps posting “rent free,” they were class free on the field.

Definitely something to be said for parity. Very wide open year.

SJC is just not that good this year. You are what your record says you are.

Speaks won with generational talent during 2022 and 2023 and Gonzaga suffered some down years with Casey O'neills tepping down during COVID. The Hawks pipeline to Military Raod is not nearly as strong as what it once was and Gonzaga appears to be back on the up-swing.

The tide is swinging away from SJC and anyone that thinks otherwise is a total homer.

DeMatha finally has an actual HS coach ,not a CLUB BRO LAX COACH , and is also on the up-swing.

Speaks should have left after the 2022 campaign for the college ranks.

Sorry to hear that, it’s bad for the game. But if that’s how they acted I’m glad they lost!

You obviously did watch the game and are must be the SJC Fogo and goalie hater. As a DeMatha parent that was a hard fought game by both teams. Game wasn't decided by 2 players and honestly could have gone either way.

Criticism and evaluation don't equal hating. Going 3-15 at fo is a reflection on Speaks refusing to acknowledge it. Going to a 2nd or even a pole is just bad coaching. Somehow, he views it as weakness. SJC has way too many players to be this vulnerable in the WCAC.

If your kid doesn't play at SJC why do you care so much about what Speaks does or doesn't do?

Different poster but I agree, GZ fogo and goalie have been excellent this year and have covered over some weaknesses for sure. Both seniors, will be tough to replace.

Crazy to think that you can recognize certain players have played consistently well and not be the dads of those players...

The word is out about Speaks, he over-recruits, makes a ton of empty promises to incoming parents about "playing time"... Current players and parents are now looking to transfer out,

I could see Speaks moving on from Military Road in the next year or two, the 2026 class is pretty talented.
