| bring me up to date. what was her motive? abusive boyfriend Sleeping with the Enemy movie type situation? Or no discernible motive except hoax? |
The soft bigotry of low expectations. Dismiss based on race and she won’t get the help she needs. |

Too bad this turned out to be a hoax.
Sadly this will affect future cases where people may ACTUALLY get kidnapped yet no one will believe it due to cases like this. I think the woman in this case should definitely be penalized for what she did here. Not jail time or anything that severe however community service would be a suitable punishment for her…. |
Her boyfriend dumped her for a stripper and she wanted his attention. |
So what happened to all the suspects in the enhanced video footage? Are you telling me that someone misinterpreted blobs of noisy pixels as people? |
^ I definitely agree, PP. I also can’t help but think about that white woman who killed her three kids after husband left to go to the store. That thread was full of people saying she’s suffered enough by losing her kids and shouldn’t be further punished. But does Carlee get the same grace (on DCUM) for her much lesser crime….? No. GTFOH, you hypocrites. I’m fine with her apology and some sort of community service working to find missing Black women. |
Agree. A full day of community service every day for a year or two. |
| ….oops one day EVERY WEEK… |
| Pepperidge Farms remembers people calling for the Coast Guard to be reimbursed for a legitimate search and rescue operation. |
I know the thread you’re talking about (Lindsay Clancy) but I think you are misremembering. Posters were arguing whether she should get jail time or go to a mental institution. I guess one could argue that being committed to a mental institution is not “punishment” but that is in fact what we do with folks who are found not liable for their actions due to insanity. The thread was not full of posters advocating that she should be released back into society after murdering three kids. |
| I just want to say kudos to the poster on here who was suspicious from the very beginning. He/she got a lot of grief but was 100% correct. |
Beast? Hmmm.pull back a bit that’s too far. |

She clearly didn’t know about the video cameras.
What she did was sad and pathetic but don’t really care if she is charged or not. She clearly is going to deal with the fallout for a long time IRL and that’s pretty punishing. I do wonder about her mom- was she in on it ? Or did she just want to believe her DD? As for the boyfriend, I would think he initially believed the story but clearly he figured it out early on. |

I posted earlier saying that she should be convicted of something so that this crime follows her in the future, although I don't really care about the punishment. I work for an agency responsible for professional licensing. Without a conviction, future licensing boards or employers might not be aware of this incident. There is no question on an application that asks, "Have you ever perpetrated a hoax that garnered massive public attention by claiming that you were kidnapped by an orange-haired white man after following a toddler in a diaper on the side of a highway while driving 40 miles per hour?"
Carlee's conduct raises many concerns about her truthfulness, trustworthiness, decision-making, and moral character. Having a conviction on her record that is based on an agreed statement of facts is the best way to preserve this incident so that future potential employers or other parties can ask about it. That doesn't mean that Carlee can't overcome it in the future if she turns herself around and learns from her mistakes. At this point, she has a long way to go. Let's face it, this can't be the first time she has engaged in this type of selfish, untruthful, and manipulative behavior. Allowing her to get off with no criminal consequences enables her to continue this pattern. |
I’ve heard that she wanted her ex-boyfriend’s attention, but I’m also hearing that her boyfriend is defending her. Is the same guy being referred to as both her boyfriend and ex-boyfriend or are we talking about two different guys, meaning current boyfriend is defending her even though she wanted ex-boyfriend back? |
