I am so depressed. I have been trying to lose weight for two years and failed. My doc said he is going to stop giving me wegovy because it clearly is not working. Previously I ’tried phentermine. Qsymia and I don’t know at least one other that did not work.
I do not overeat but I know my problem is exercise. I get a routine going and then I throw my back out, gain weight while recovering and then when I’m well I work out again, start to lose and then F$&& it all my back goes out again and I gain weight. I am not doing difficult stuff!!! Yoga and stretching and walking - not even running!!! I swear the chiro made me worse and just slowed down my recovery. Menopause probably contributes too bec I started her about the same time. Argh. I am so frustrated. Just venting and watching the world around me get thinner. |

I feel your pain, literally.
I gained weight during my dad’s illness and I was on medication for an issue. 25 -30lbs later Did couch to 5 k - plantar fasciitis pickleball Did the Sargent a program tore my hamstring Did yoga… Threw my back out 3x decided long hikes might be a good thing was getting very strong and able to walk 5-10 miles at a time…. Literally fell in sink hole and broke my leg. I never really recovered. |
Pickleball* typo
Did I do now do pickleball. Not losing weight and I’m not getting strong, but I’m never been happier |
Are you actually overweight? Very overweight?
I just lost 40 lb on tirzepatide. You may want to try it. A lot of people have better luck than sema. I am still hoping to lose 30 lb, which I would need to do to be officially out of the “obese” bmi. But I feel a lot better. |
Start with 1 mile walking daily and do light strength training. Slowly build muscle and it will protect you from injury. Slow. |
Why is the wegovy not working? Are you still hungry? Are you eating even though you aren’t hungry? I’m on zepbpund and losing slowly- not really exercising that much. I think my pace is about 1lb per week and sometimes only .5lbs. I know it would be faster if I didn’t have any alcoholbut it’s been tough this time of year. |
Pickleball is not exercise. Not in the least.
And couch to 5k doesn't work for most overweight/older people. Not everyone is born to run. Instead, start with yoga, pilates, barre and incline treadmill walks. Do this for 2 weeks, then start working out with weight machines...upper body day, leg day, back day. |
There are plenty of good reasons to exercise but weight loss is not one of them. You should be able to lose weight with diet alone (but not exercise alone). So I don’t think your problem is your injuries. If wegovy doesn’t affect you, is your doctor willing to try another one? |
Op, you are not alone. I too am a Wegovy failure. I’ve lost all of 5 pounds on it despite daily exercise and eating much less. My doctor is trying to switch me to Monjouro. It’s so frustrating to see all of these success stories when it’s just not working for me. I’m a 52 year old menopausal woman with 40 lbs to lose. |
Seriously do not give up! You will find what works for you. Please know that so many of us have been there. I would highly recommend switching over to Zepbound/tirsepatide. I have lost 30 pounds on it and had very little to no real side effects. It’s been a game changer and enabled me to really change my life. I do have to eat calories in a strict deficit that I calculated online for my height and weight and I do exercise absolutely every day. Semaglutide/ozempic/wegovy seem to have more side effects! |
Sad but true. I am the PP who lost 30 lbs on compounded tirzepatide and am at a low dose 3.5 16 weeks in. I do 1 hour walks daily or treadmill and weight train a minimum of 3x weekly, muscle definition is starting to show and getting stronger. It’s the only way. It’s also good for your bone density as a woman and will combat age related injuries! |
NP Where do you get it? |
Not the PP but I am getting my tirzepatide from
https://goldenrod-health.com/ shes my former NP and decided to do this as well. I like having an actual person to talk to and text with questions. |
You need to be honest with yourself because if you are overweight and not losing even on medication the you are in fact over eating. Most people have no clue about portion sizes and calories. Start by tracking everything you eat and I mean every bite, like and taste. Do this for a few weeks to find out where you are at in terms of calorie consumption. Do you eat out much? Drink aclochol? Once you know your baseline you can go from there. |
