I don't have any facts or figures on this, but my impression is that there a pretty large number of undocumented people living in MoCo. Correct me if I'm wrong.
To the extent there is a large population, I'd have to guess we'd be seeing up close and personal what Trump's deportation plan is going to look like. So - what's it going to look like? What are the pros, cons, first order, second order effects. I feel like this could be one of the most significant policy implementations in modern history. |
| Were you around during the Obama Administration? |
| It's going to be a big, fat nothingburger around here. |
OP here - thanks and interesting take. Could you say a bit more why you think that? |
| He's not going to be able to do it, for one. |
| What will be interesting is he wants to bring tarriffs but we don't have enough manufacturing and most Americans don't want those jobs. And, those he plans to deport also do other critical jobs. |

Tons of undocumented immigrants in Arlington also:

| It’s gonna be harder and more expensive to find house cleaners, nannys, landscapers and construction workers. Need a new addition on your home? Expect to pay a lot more. |
| Trump is only interested in graft to send money to himself and his friends. No one in his orbit any interest in doing the work behind his ideas, especially when they require paying middle class people to do the work. |

Agreed. There will some show force at the beginning and then it will fall apart just like everything else he’s ever tried. This was a sales pitch to get her votes of a certain sector of rubes and morons, just like everything he’s ever planned to do. Now he’ll also have to contend with Putin’s liaison, Musk, trying to micromanage him. It’s going to be damaging to the country, but hilariously dysfunctional to watch. |
+1 I completely agree. |
Yep. He will tweet that he cleared out mo co and his followers will believe him. They'd never step foot in our area, but they'll sleep better thinking 'merica is whiter. |

The number of students enrolled in MCPS will probably drop by 20% as so-called undocumented families flee. The size of the MCPS payroll will shrink significantly. Several schools will close.
The tax savings will be immense and will be repeated every year. Montgomery County will return to prosperity. |
Do you think MD will cooperate with ICE? |
