Are MS boys really very unattractive?

Anonymous
Today I was at a mall with DD and she saw a boy from her MS. The boy was very unattractive but DD told me he was actually above average. I was shocked.

To make things worse, as she tells it, many girls are attractive. She told me that there are about 4-5 boys in MS who are attractive and every single girl is pursuing them and they are all very cocky. She told me she liked some of them but "they are not catfight worthy". Does this ring a bell? It sounds like hell, honestly.

Yeah, they don’t look great. They are generally shorter than the girls and haven’t figured out hygiene and fashion yet

Yes my DS and friends definitely look awkward in MS. It doesn’t help that they insist on wild messy hair and dressing like slobs.

Yes. I felt bad for having this thought while volunteering at school recently. It doesn’t seem to hurt their confidence, though.

I remember being shocked at my DD's middle school when I'd get there to pick her up. All the boys were very ugly. In my middle school I remember there being at least half a dozen who were good looking.

They’re so little!! Middle school boys are dorky but very sweet.

I kind of remember this from middle school when I went. It’s an awkward stage where girls are starting to mature and are more into fashion/looks but boys are still confused and don’t know how to dress or style themselves. And they were often short, not sure why but it seemed like girls grew faster around this time and the boys shot up in HS

Yes- by end of 8th grade there is usually a batch of them that get a lot cuter - or at least taller. And so many girls are on their game by mid 7th grade (not much of an awkward stage nowadays for the girls ).

That said even in high school some of the boys considered “cute” aren’t even as cute as others, they are just popular.

As a middle-AGED mom, you shouldn’t find them attractive.

And they are generally in an awkward phase with puberty etc. so they are growing into their features, haven’t figured out hygiene and style, etc. Girls that age too - but I think (some) girls manage it all better because there are more options for girls in terms of clothing & makeup.

You all sound insane. Check out the NCRC thread. Weird.

I don't know if the boys in my son's class are attractive or not, but I can with certainty that they are a slovenly bunch. Girls, too. All sweatpants and messy hair. I guess they are comfortable, at least.

They're kids who haven't had growth spurts yet

Teen boys can be really awkward looking - the same as when I was in middle school 30 years ago. However based on the photos my friends post of their kids, middle school and HS girls are much prettier than when I was a middle school girl.
