Looks like it will be pretty similar to Jaleo? At least as much as possible in an airport. Tapas does make sense because you can serve them quickly usually, which is smart when people might have say a 30 minute window to get food before their flight.

Free for VentureX cardholders plus 1 guest. $45 for regular Venture cardholders. $90 for general public.

Oh and it's in Terminal 2, where the D gates pier starts, in the old Sam & Harry's space, so right after you clear security at the north checkpoint.

That's weird, VentureX cardholders can take 2 free guests to all their other lounges. Hopefully that was a typo in the article.

Haven't been to the one in Dulles. Is this really worth $45? I am a Venture cardholder.

No, pretty sure that's accurate. This is a smaller space and they already have significant lines/wait times at their lounges. Probably trying to get ahead of that. I suspect this will be the first one with only 1 guest allowed, and they will be changing the policy at the other ones later.

Amex went through all that with their lounges, and is now down to no free guests whatsoever. People like "free" stuff, tragedy of the commons, etc.

No not worth $45. Probably worth $25-30. The food is a definite step up from other lounges, the coffee is good, and the grab and go options are IMO the best thing about it- perfect to grab a sandwich, salad, snack, drink for a long flight. Higher quality than what you can get on board or at the shops in the terminal.

But not worth it unless you get free access with the VentureX, I think.

The one in Dulles is nice, albeit not in the most convenient spot. I like the food variety and drink service. But the best part is the grab and go - they have drinks, salads, sandwiches and some snacks that you can take with you on a flight. I don't recall any other lounges that let you take food or drink out. So even if you don't have time to eat, grabbing the food is great and saves you from overpriced airport food.

I wonder how much sitting space the DCA one is going to have for the non X card folks? Bc Dulles can get full very quickly...

It's definitely not the most convenient for people connecting at Dulles, but it's perfect for those departing because it's right above the train station to the gates. If it was close to a specific gate area, it would be that much further from the other gate areas.

And yeah I think this place is going to be slammed very quickly. I doubt they will let non-X cardholders access it most of the time. Which is the real point of these lounges- as advertising and perk to get new premium cardholders.

I was looking forward to using grab and go at Dulles but it turned it you needed to get on a waitlist to get in. 🙄

I expect the same thing here— will be too crowded to be useful.

Yes the lines/waitlist and their unpredictable nature make it much less valuable a perk. One new thing is that you can check how busy it is on the CapOne app, and signup for the waitlist there, possibly before you even get to the airport if its long enough.

Sometimes they will let you get the grab and go stuff even if its full!

That makes a lot of sense but damn I hope not. I travel with my husband, and a kid who will eat a handful of M&Ms in a lounge. I would hate to pay for her to get in! But I guess my husband can wait outside.

Add your husband as an authorized user on your VentureX card. You can add up to 4 authorized users for free. He will get his own card and have access himself (can also request his own Priority Pass card). This is very common- last time I was at the lounge at Dulles I saw a family of 5 go in with each parent having their own VentureX card- I didn't ask them but almost surely one was an authorized user on the other's account.

Woah that's big! Last time I was there it was a 30 minute wait and I didn't get in because only had around 20 minutes before I had to leave for my gate. Do you just ask nicely when putting your name on the waitlist?

I just asked if I could get some grab and go items and put my name in, and they said ok. I don't know the official policy but I had success 1/1 times.
