Capital One Landing opens at DCA- November 19

Lots more detailed info here including specifics on reservations, food, etc. Grab and go won't be free, but VentureX cardholders will get a 50% discount.

Bummer, the free grab and go was my favorite part.

There are two lounges - one is grab-and-go and open to everyone but you get the discount as referenced. The other is for cardholders only and will accept reservations. I'm not sure how great it's going to be given that. I live so close to DCA that I'll never arrive early enough to really care about lounge access, but for those that do, don't expect to walk in.

The more I read about the details, I really like this setup because it hopefully sets realistic expectations. Because you can make reservations up to 6 months in advance, you can do it say right after you book your plane ticket. Let's say you have a flight at 1:30 PM- this will be perfect because you make a noon reservation for lunch, eat for 45 minutes, and not need to get to the airport much earlier, knowing you won't have a wait to get in, etc. Right now its hard to assume you will have lounge access if you get to the airport say 75 minutes before your flight, but you end up with a 30 minute wait to get in.

I think this is a good system because it means fewer people will try and walk in, so less disappointment. But you still get some benefit by having the discounted food options, which look really good, and the prices with the 50% discount look like they are around $6-8 for a salad or sandwich, which is a very good value especially if the quality is kept up and above what you can get in the terminal.

No, pretty sure that's accurate. This is a smaller space and they already have significant lines/wait times at their lounges. Probably trying to get ahead of that. I suspect this will be the first one with only 1 guest allowed, and they will be changing the policy at the other ones later.

Amex went through all that with their lounges, and is now down to no free guests whatsoever. People like "free" stuff, tragedy of the commons, etc.

That makes a lot of sense but damn I hope not. I travel with my husband, and a kid who will eat a handful of M&Ms in a lounge. I would hate to pay for her to get in! But I guess my husband can wait outside.

Add your husband as an authorized user on your VentureX card. You can add up to 4 authorized users for free. He will get his own card and have access himself (can also request his own Priority Pass card). This is very common- last time I was at the lounge at Dulles I saw a family of 5 go in with each parent having their own VentureX card- I didn't ask them but almost surely one was an authorized user on the other's account.

Does anyone know how this works for the Venture card for 2024 (I know there's no free lounge access in 2025). We have one member and 2 authorized users. Can all three use their cards for free access at the Dulles location when traveling together? I believe the card rules say two free lounge access for the year.

Cardholders get 2 passed to Capitol One Lounges and Plaza Premium lounges. That means yes to Dulles Cap One Lounge, no to DCA Capitol Landing lounge. But as for the AU's they do NOT get additional lounge passes, just the cardholders. So your move is to have one or two people go in and take some grab and go food for the 3 people.

Yes you can do this in 2024. There is no difference between perks for primary cardholders and authorized users for Capital One personal cards. It does differ with some other card issuers, however.

Correction to the above- you get 2 free visits in 2024 PER ACCOUNT. So you as primary Venture cardholder, and one AU could go, but not the second AU.

Thanks! Found the T&C that states that as well. I'll likely get my own card too before we take this trip late Dec. Just got offered a 90K promo with 6 months/6K spend. I could use the $120 GE credit too. This way, all of us will be covered.

The Dulles CapOne lounge is great, but just a warning that it can get very busy and wait times can be long. I wouldn't assume you will be able to get in, especially during a busy travel time like Christmas. Not sure if you can access the wait-list from the app, as a regular Venture card holder, but definitely check that on your way to the airport and join the wait-list early if you need to.

I just snagged a reservation for my flight in two weeks!

Bumping up this thread since the lounge has been open for a while. I have a trip in a few weeks and wondering if I even bother trying to get in…

Why not look on the app to see if there are reservations open when you will be there? Online reports make it seem like there aren't any lines or wait lists yet.

I've been there twice. I had a reservation but it wasn't full either time. I like it because there's lots of space, good good options, and a server that brings you things. It's "worth it" to me because I have a Venture X card so it's free, why wouldn't I go? I like to get to the airport on the early side so it's a more pleasant place to wait for my flight then just sitting by the gate (and also ideal for flight delays).

I have venture X and flew out of DCA in December. Didn’t realize the lounge had opened till I got there, made a reservation while waiting in security line, and had a nice drink and snacks.
