Yale ED down 14% per article:
Yale now requires scores/test-flex https://yaledailynews.com/blog/2024/11/15/early-applications-dip-in-yales-first-test-flexible-admissions-cycle/ Northwestern ED up 10% per AO. NU still TO. |
| Interesting- any other schools announce early app numbers? |
| Search school newspapers |
| Is that where you found the NU number? (Newspaper?) |
|
OP, can you link to the NU numbers you are referring to?
Note that NU's percent of score submitters for class of 2023 has 50% submitting SAT, 29% submitting ACT. |
OP said that the number was via an AO |
| It's possible that NU's ED app volume increased, but I doubt TO has anything to do with it. Instead, I would suspect prestige hunters noticing its slightly better US News rank. |
| NU is just very popular this year. Almost 10% of our private put an ED app in there (if the kid rumor mill can be believed) |
| Northwestern was also an absolute bloodbath last year in RD. This is the first year that I know of that our college office told seniors that if they want NU, they have to ED. |
| Will be interesting to see if the other schools that just went back to test-required also saw a decrease in ED apps |
| Any other early Ivy stats out yet? |
This is good to know. DC RD to NU and was accepted engineering.

Last year |
Didn’t the Dartmouth announcement say they expected it? But they have so many excess apps that they said they didn’t mind. |
Exactly. More than enough ultra qualified students. It will still be lottery-ish. |
