Pride recruiting help? Pride vs Cap Orange

Anonymous
I am curious as a 28 parent how much help Pride gives for recruiting compared to Capital Orange? If you don't make Capital Orange where do you go? Anywhere and hire a consultant?

Hello 2028 parent with a serious question. Some thoughts for your consideration:

--2026 Commitments thread is a good source of commitments by club team. They are showing 8 Capital Orange players already committed (to some good programs/schools) versus 4 for Pride Black.

--Capital Orange benefits from the overall Capital recruiting framework and a director with a very strong track record.

--Pride has had challenges with college recruiting results in the past few years that have been covered at length elsewhere. They have hired a new recruiting coordinator and appear to be making a concerted effort on it.

--It sounds like you are looking to try out in the summer of 25 cycle. There will likely be some, but probably not a ton of spots on Orange. Would recommend engaging with Capital clinics and some Healthy Baller training to get some familiarity if that's your target club team.

--In terms of other options, I would watch the results for the club teams in Fall and early Summer. Higher rankings will mean better brackets and more looks from coaches. Also, if you can make the trek, Maryland B teams (Skywalkers White and M&D Red, for example) offer other options with longer history of recruiting success.

--Not sure about the consulting space. But targeting realistic options for college camps and going to specific schools or group camps with 5-10 schools is another way to get looks.

Pride has a new Recruiting Director as of this summer with coaching pedigree to help them catch-up to the Capital recruiting machine. Cap Orange and Pride Black are pretty even talent/rank-wise for 26s but Orange does have the brand/framework to be more helpful on the process than Pride. That being said even Orange recruiting is way down from previous years as the roster cap/NCAA settlement is showing its effects on recruiting outside of the best teams.

Only about 27 teams might be affected by new roster caps. Only about 7 of those teams are over the limit, for a total of 18 spots. There are over 125 teams in Div 1, so every year about 1150-1200 girls are committed. 18 represents about 1.5% of that number. This is an example, OP, of the kind of turrible advice you'll receive when asking a DCUM chat board. Please seek your advice somewhere else.

Several college coaches have already stated (direct/indirect) that they are reducing the # of commits for the 2026 class to make sure they don't have to reneg on offers in the future.

in years past, the easy answer would be cap orange. I think currently and in the future, Pride is the better answer. They are staying relevant and hopefully with their new recruiting coordinator they will market girls and get them recruited. Their social media presence mirrors what MD clubs are doing.

Who is Pride’s new recruiting director? This summer hired?

I am not sure that Capital Orange gets much from the recruiting director but the brand seems to be helpful? Not sure really. Would need to get insight from coaches to find out what made them watch and reach out to the Orange girls? Was it luck? Was it play? Did they come watch because it was Capital? Did they watch Pride as well?

Judging from how the younger Pride teams are doing, that club is a mess. All the young talent is fleeing to other clubs.

Pride has definitely upped their social media presence recently. Trying to recruit that young talent back with photoshoots!

Cap Orange players definitely get help from the recruiting director. Cap Orange also plays in higher brackets at all tournaments than Pride Black, which means more college coaches will be in attendance. Still seems like an easy choice, if you have the option.

Why is this even up for debate. Pride is a sinking ship and a new recruiting director won’t help that at all.

Go Cap Orange if the choice. Pride does nothing to help with recruiting. O.O

Right, that's what I said. So instead of having 1,200 Div 1 recruits, there might be 1,182.
If a club is struggling with recruiting, any new roster caps aren't the reason.
