Pride recruiting help? Pride vs Cap Orange

Anonymous
Besides Capital/Pride/Stars, tryout for every team within driving distance - skywalkers, M&D, Integrity, MD United. Most high school teams practice on the weekends so driving is not as bad as it sounds. If you don't make Capital Blue then choose the next highest ranked team. The higher ranked teams play in top practices and therefore more coaches are coming to watch. Many of the Maryland B teams are better than Capital Orange, Pride or Stars.

They are staying relevant and hopefully with their new recruiting coordinator they will market girls and get them recruited. Their social media presence mirrors what MD clubs are doing.

Judging from how the younger Pride teams are doing, that club is a mess. All the young talent is fleeing to other clubs.

I wouldn't rush to judge Pride by how the younger teams look right now. Some of the younger girls went to play for other local teams that aren't any better in terms of organization, talent, coaching, etc., for various reasons, but I think Pride will wind up drawing many of these girls to their teams before HS. Pride offers better tournaments and playing against top teams, and I haven't seen that from the other options on the VA side. It's actually kind of a bummer that there aren't more team options in VA like MD has.

My daughter plays for Pride and that has not been our experience. She loves her teammates and the coaches. I think this year has been a reset. The owner left the area and promoted her second in charge to be the director of operations. She is fantastic. They made several new hires to round out the administrative team so that operations run smoothly. It was a lot of change, but I think things have settled. Some people who jumped ship might be having regrets.

Nobody is having regrets. If anything local clubs have benefited from Pride’s loss.

Look at the recruiting of the 26 group. Orange and Black are closely ranked. Pride has 1 D1 recruit. Orange 9.

2027 Cap Orange had 2 or 3 college coaches watching their games today in Florida. That’s probably 1 or 2 more who watched Pride.

Wonder how many Stars 2027 has. Anyone?

Stupid comment from an ignorant parent just trying to grind their axe against Pride. 26s are in zone right now. Orange has 8 commits at this point. There is a lot of work to be done there. What matters is what was on their sidelines and on Pride 26s. Any coach watching 27 orange are just killing time, and yes, same if watching Pride 27s. There are just some parents that make a team better by leaving.

Cap Orange and Pride Black are pretty even talent/rank-wise for 26s but Orange does have the brand/framework to be more helpful on the process than Pride. That being said even Orange recruiting is way down from previous years as the roster cap/NCAA settlement is showing its effects on recruiting outside of the best teams.
Only about 27 teams might be affected by new roster caps. Only about 7 of those teams are over the limit, for a total of 18 spots. There are over 125 teams in Div 1, so every year about 1150-1200 girls are committed. 18 represents about 1.5% of that number. This is an example, OP, of the kind of turrible advice you'll receive when asking a DCUM chat board. Please seek your advice somewhere else.

This didnt age well. At least 1 CAP blue 2025 athlete has seen the effects of new the new roster limits. Hoping she finds her spot. Too much talent to not be playing next year. But it is definitely impacting recruiting.

Okay, I buy that if they jumped to a good MD team, but not if they moved to stars or 3d. Give it time... those teams just don't play the same caliber tournaments.

Stars LB 2027 had between 2-4 coaches per half for their prez cup games. They were outmatched by the teams they were playing, but had some opportunities to flash here and there. They did seem to be bracketed wrong, but I don't pretend to be an expert. And I'm not knowable enough to know if the exposure to more college coaches at the games was a good things if the girls were on their heals the whole time.

Unfortunately stars has no history or brand for HS to get these girls recruited. Who is even the recruiting coordinator?

Kathy Jenkins, perhaps you've heard of her.

Jenkins doesn’t care about Stars. She still has a presence in Capital for the SSSAS girls but that’s about it.
