FBI Headquarter Plans in Limbo?

Is the planned HQ move to Greenbelt in danger, or is it finalized, i.e., there’s no going back to the drawing board? I know most Washingtonians are hoping for a new, vibrant stretch of Pennsylvania Ave with sidewalk cafes and boutiques where the current building is. But the new administration may have other ideas.

Bowser would love it. She should pitch Trump on a slate of projects - new FBI HQ, the new football stadium, etc.

Trump no longer owns the hotel in the Old Post Office Building so he doesn’t have the same conflict of interest that he had before (didn’t want a prime parcel available to develop a competing hotel.) I don’t know the answer as to the status of the move though.

Via web search I just found this new article on the move. It appears Trump may in fact block the move to Md?

Geez, I hope not, with all the money that has gone into the determination of the new FBI headquarters location. What a waste.

They could maybe use the PG site for a temporary HQ. They need to move everyone out of the Hoover bldg to demo and rebuild from scratch. It’s going to take 5+ years.

FBI should be in DC proper near the court.

No one wanted to move to Greenbelt. That process was a sham anyway. Hopefully it does get reversed. It made absolutely no sense.

The project has already been approved so no this will not be stopped.

It will end up in Springfield, the site selected by the selection committee. It's the only logical choice among the three options, for a host of business, as opposed to "social equity", reasons.

Trump isn't very big on fiscal responsibility. He loves bankruptcy as a "smart strategy."

Good idea! Make the move twice as expensive!

Why would you expect anything else? DJT wants the FBI on a short leash, not out in Springfield or Greenbelt.

....so that confirms it won't be ass-ugly Springfield, squashed between a couple interstate highways. lol
