Hmmm.... she has a long history of this, including at school board meetings. |
burying the lede that due to threats about her, police had to show up at Washington liberty yesterday afternoon |
Some school districts allow teachers to express political speech, in classroom displays, lessons, etc. It appears Arlington allows for this. Other public school districts prohibit such displays or speech. I read in the Times that Portland Oregon recently passed a ban on any political displays or speech. |
English teachers almost universally have gone completely mad. My high schooler was so glad to be in a college riding class versus the idiotic English curriculum that the current crop of teachers promotes. |
Riding = Writing |
Arlington only allows for this when it's something the Arlington dem echo chamber agrees with. |
AEM allowed a user to post the daily wire article and the moderators declined to remove it. Very disappointing. Even if there are valid concerns about teachers bringing politics into the classroom, the article itself was very ugly and hateful. Watching AEM users defend the posting of the article in the Facebook group is like watching a room full of people tell on themselves. |
Would you be OK if they posted the Arlington now article? |
You momma and daddys Washington-Lee would have never tolerated this... |
In that case, at least there would have been an upfront acknowledgement that the underlying article had, in fact, had the predictable result of stirring up hate against the teacher. |
It's more shocking to me that more people aren't openly criticizing Israel. Good for her. |
She hasn’t violated policy that anyone has shown. She’s taking the position that writers shouldn’t shy away from difficult topics and should use writing to reveal truth. Is there a specific way in which she has retaliated against a student for disagreeing, or discriminated against them for their beliefs/identify/ethnicity? If not, what is this about? Calling a war where tens of thousands of children on one side only have been killed is a genocide. Israel is an apartheid state, even if the “reason” for the apartheid is fear of terrorism. These are objective truths. Is this teacher calling for the death of Israelis or Americans of Jewish faith? Or is she having them read or watch material that is critical of the State and its actions and asking them to respond.
There’s some parents of current IB seniors, probably the same ones, who have also complained about the assignment of work that is critical of the US and our racial history. And one student in particular has made some pretty racist comments in that course. Maybe a private school would be better if the only thing teachers are allowed to teach is what is approved by parents and supports only a worldview which aligns with your own. |
Also, sorry but Ben Shapiro? That guy’s a joke. What ever the opposite of BDE, he’s that. Just pathetic. |

There’s a lot to unpack here but let’s not get off topic - a high school English class is not the appropriate forum to ask students to respond to this teachers beliefs. If it was any other group being targeted, this would not stand. |
