Ok, MAGA |
The unqualified admits are not in the engineering program. Cal, UCLA, UCD, UCSD etc all have difficult weeder classes in math, chemistry and physics. The remedial students fail and end up in majors far away from STEM. Cal is excellent for engineering but honestly it’s better for neurodivergent, truly obsessed types, grinders and excellent cheaters. It’s very cut throat, and you have to watch out for sabotage. It can be too stressful and depressing for many kids. |

| Okay folks. Back to feeling good about acceptances. Let’s reeeeel it in. This thread makes me happy. Let’s keep it supportive. |
Yes! The students have worked hard. Celebrate. |
How do you know this? Do you have a kid at Cal? |
Probably trying to deter competition for their kid and since this is a DC area forum, deter OOS competition |

My non-4.0 future mech engineering student was accepted to several solid options and received merit $ at all but Penn state. Posting bc of how daunting this process can be for the A/B student. He’s at a W school among the competitive high achievers, and it can be easy to feel like you haven’t a chance. So we made sure to visit lots of potential targets to get excited about his options.
He’s very happy with how things have turned out and we’re going to a few admitted students days to make a final decision. He’s still waiting on a couple, but so far in at: CU Boulder Ohio State Penn State Pitt UMass Amherst Syracuse WPI RIT Rose Hulman |
| Excited about acceptance to UCSB College of Creative Studies. Would like to hear opinions from those who have attended. |
Or anything about UCSB? My son also just got in! |
it's insane a kid with these acceptances felt less-than. CONGRATS! nice choices - and with merit money, too?!? |
