Cal, UCLA, UCD, UCSD etc all have difficult weeder classes in math, chemistry and physics. The remedial students fail and end up in majors far away from STEM. Cal is excellent for engineering but honestly it’s better for neurodivergent, truly obsessed types, grinders and excellent cheaters. It’s very cut throat, and you have to watch out for sabotage.
