Good. If Dems cave now it makes the entire shutdown pointless.

Are you saying Dems caused the shutdown?

No, Mike Johnson caused the shutdown by refusing to negotiate at all. Democrats had a chance to avert it but decided the role of the Senate is not to be a rubber stamp for Mike Johnson.

There was nothing to negotiate. It’s a clean CR.

Schumer believes the shut down is good for “his side.” Hopefully voters will prove him wrong next year.

Schumer voted for the clean CR in March but is voting against this one. Why is that? Because in between the "Big Beautiful Bill" passed without the support of 60 senators, making health insurance much more expensive for millions of Americans. This is Schumer's only chance to undo that damage before open enrollment starts next month.

Because he got a fuccking spine. About darn time. Fight fire with fire. Nobody wants to be represented by mealy mouth representative. Fight for your constituents or, "you can leave".

BBB didn't make anything more expensive. Obamacare did that all on its own. The only thing is the temporary covid subsidies are expiring. BBB had nothing to do with that.

There are Medicaid cuts in the BBB that have nothing to do with the ACA.
Yes, and Democrats do want to restore that as well in their bill. Can't let illegals be denied Medicaid.

That tired old lie again? What do you think this is, the comments section of foxnews.com?

Why can’t they negotiate now? The clearly have the time, but it sounds like Republicans do not have the inclination. You know and I know that the Republicans want a “clean” CR because that will extend the “negotiations” (that aren't really going on) to mid-November, a time when nobody wants to shut the government down, thus putting the Dems at a disadvantage. There isn’t anything altruistic about the Republicans.

The point of a "clean" CR is to keep the status quo while negotiations happen. But Trump is reserving the right to cut anything out of it that he doesn't like, so it doesn't actually do that. As long as one side reserves the right to back out of the deal after the fact, there can be no deal.

Firing people during a shutdown violates the Anti-Deficiency Act, so he can RIF, but it will just mean more lawsuits the Administration loses.

Didn't the SC basically negate that recently?

What a tiny man he is.
My real question is since Vought is saving all these tax dollars with the RIFs, where are the refunds? I’d like my money back since I am no longer receiving the benefits of the services they were funding.

It better not be at USDA. The farmers are already very pissed that Trump’s destruction of their markets is not being recompensed because of the shutdown.
