Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
How do you think IG investigations work? Like FBI agents arriving with a no-knock warning in the middle of the night? |
Yes, of course they will. This was the plan all along. |
It means the IG gets to the documents before mcps has a chance to swap them out like they did in the elec bus procurement. |
|
Ethics means nothing to MCPS and the Board of Education. That’s why they have so many scandals.
If MCPS and the Board of Education truly had the intent for an independent third party to have an unencumbered investigation, they wouldn’t taint that effort with their own pre-investigation. |
No of course not- but I'd prefer their investigation be prior to whatever cleanup or PR spin Jackson Lewis can put on it. |
She said she just moved her middle school son to the district. They're going to renew the contract most likely. |
|
Of the 18 complaints, only 6 complaints came in the last year. That means there’s a history that points to the MCPS standard of operating procedures for sexual harassment and bullying complaints is to ignore the victims. During the same time period, there was a lot of reshuffling in Central Office staff. However, for the complaints that came in regarding Beidleman, there was no change in the MCPS response to the complaints.
There should be a lot of people tainted by how MCPS directly handled the complaints. MCPS needs to extensively clean house including most of Central Office and Dr. McKnight herself. Leadership is responsible. |
I don’t think the Board cares that she just moved. She was supposed to move to Montgomery County per her contract. This scandal has been a huge embarrassment for the Board. It points to how MCPS and Dr. McKnight put forward a candidate for a Principal position while withholding he had 18 complaints for sexual harassment and bullying. What else have they been misled about? I can’t see how the Board doesn’t let Dr. McKnight go. |
The one complaint from the science teacher in the WaPo article should have been enough to not only prevent his promotion to PB but to put him on leave for a full investigation. |
|
It would be quite telling if the next step of the reporting was on central office employees.
Start w MD Case search for the low hanging fruit, but then look into complaints against them from the school system. It's been an open secret for years that admins "fail up" quietly into Carver positions. |
|
I predict a few admin scapegoats in CO will bear the brunt of the blame for the Beidleman failure.
So I think McKnight will survive, but she's not coming out unscathed. And if another scandal even remotely similar to this one emerges in this school year, then I think she'll be at great risk of being let go. |
Seems odd she would be harrassed for so long and not request to be transferred to another school. 2019-2023 is a long time. |
| I'm not familiar with this individual's situation, but it can take a while to get up the nerve to leave let alone report, especially if you're made to feel shame and gaslit into thinking you're somehow responsible for others' bad behavior. Or if you worry it will somehow come back to hurt you. |
Are you serious? Are you a female? It is normal to doubt yourself in this kind of a situation. Also normal to ignore bad behavior when you need to keep your job. |
I said transfer not lose your job. This school was big on staff going out together and she was at every outing. I would not be at after work activities that are not required if I felt threatened. |
