3 children dead in private Christian elementary school shooting in TN

I feel like some people will trot out any excuse to stop others from trying to lessen these deaths and even stop them from happening. The thing is, we didn't used to have mass shootings like this in schools or in many other places. What changed? I think we all know the answer.

That’s not exactly true, but it does seem to be rising. There was the 1900s-1930s(?) school bombing at a Michigan school near Lansing(?). Gut didn’t get elected and blew up his farm and then the school.

Agree on stricter gun controls but it will not solve the mental health crises and the social excommunications if you’re not on the right side of this issue or the other. People need people.

How are we going to stop tornadoes? They have killed more people than mass shootings recently.

Maybe we should outlaw mobile homes.

If climate change is contributing to the frequency, intensity, and shifting the location of these storms, addressing climate change will help. Better meteorological tools and warning systems. Can storm shelters be dug next to mobil homes?

Why wouldn't we look for solutions?

All hat, no cattle:

“ "We do have a school person, or two ... I'm not sure ... who would be packing, ”

Interviewee went on to say that she didn’t know if those people were in the building. What IS fact is the perp was looking at another school, but the security was too heavy.

Gov Lee has come forth with a strong proposal to supply funding to private schools for guards.

No kidding. He will propose whatever the NRA tells him to propose and completely ignore the fact that school with guards have suffered terrible school shootings.

Is he going to hire one for every door and do the same for the publics (because their parents pay taxes too)? Because that's what it will take to fully secure the schools. And what about school events like football and sports venues, etc.?

Conversely we could one of the hundred dozen suggestions toward gun control and maybe, just maybe, we won’t have to do this again in a few days for a new set of families. It’s wonderful people are coming out to support them; it still pales in comparison to having their family member here.

+1

I’m sure those families would rather have their kids back instead of receiving all of the “love and support”.

It doesn’t have to be like this.

Guards make $90/hr. I guess we can tax the rich to get the money?

No, they’ll be talking about making cuts first thing. Teachers make too much in the effed up gun nut worldview. Kids don’t need art. Kids shouldn’t have a library; they’re just grooming the kids with porn in there any way.

Teach them to read, teach them the GOP’s sanitized version of history and spend the money on guards. All so Kyle who beats his wife can have an arsenal rivaling a small kingdom.

There is no guarantee that LEOs/guards who provide security to schools will engage with shooters.

Two LEOs on scene during the Parkland massacre did ZIP ZERO NADA to protect the students. Scot Peterson "refused to investigate the source of gunshots, retreated during the active shooting while victims were being shot and directed other law enforcement who arrived on scene to remain 500 feet away from the building." Sgt Brian Miller "hid in his car" while the shooting was going on. (He was fired for neglect of duty and later reinstated with back pay. He made $137,000 in 2018.) And we all know how cowardly the Uvalde LEOs who responded to the shooting were.

When the shooters are armed better than the LEOs, expect some LEOs to be too scared to engage.

Well that won’t be a problem for the TN boys.
