APS School Board Election 2024

I'm planning to vote early today or tomorrow. Who are you all backing for School Board? I know it really doesn't matter because Clark and Tapia-Hadley will win, of course. But, are there other candidates I should consider voting for? Thanks.

I feel comfortable with those 2 choices, so I'll go with them.

Kathleen and Paul seem to be the favorite of parents and teachers.

Weiss and Rives
As you say, the other two will win anyway.

Who is APE supporting so I know who not to vote for?

I’m voting for Paul Weiss because I think the board needs a teacher’s perspective. Haven’t decided between the other two Democratic candidates yet. Plan to vote in October.

He's not a teacher in APS anymore if that matters to you. He has no connection to APS anymore, so no skin in the game.

Also I don't like that he's misrepresenting himself as a Democrat when he didn't even run for the Dem endorsement.

Rives is terrible. So not him.

Kathleen is the best candidate by far. Zuraya will win because she has the Dem machine money behind her but she has zero background in APS prior to 2024.

Rives is a nut. Weiss is from out of nowhere. Claiming to be Dem but didn’t try to get endorsed via the caucus.

The easy answer is NOT RIVES.

1. I am not impressed with the other candidates.
2. I would like to have some variation in opinions among the Board and Rives has been learning and is at least thoughtful about his positions and not afraid to offer a different view.
2a) he's not going to win
2b) even if he did, votes would be 4-1 instead of 5-0; so nothing changes.

OMG.
First of all, he resigned from APS so he could run for SB.
Second of all, he left APS for DC public schools -- that should say something about his dedication to both teaching and running for APS SB.
Third of all, BS on not being a Democrat just because he didn't want to suck-up and kiss rings.
Fourth of all, read his posts on AEM. He is a dem.

Same. I’ll never vote for another member who hasn’t worked for APS
