If you typically foodtrack - do you bother putting it in on days where you know the swing estimate could be 100s to 1000s of calories? Like you’re at a resort and depending on how much oil they use to make your omelet, it could have 300 or 900 calories, same on how much butter on your sandwich bread etc. |
I don't eat those kinds of foods. |
I do my best, but yes I track it. It's just data and discipline |
Yes it bothers me, but I'm doing it.
Previously it would be enough for me to stop tracking. When I don't track, I put on weight. I need to be mindful, and that includes days where I splurge. |
No, I don't. |
This. Or if I think it might be hard to estimate, I eat a half portion and then pause and try to assess how full I feel. I can generally tell when I’m eating a 600 calorie meal versus a 1000 calorie meal. The former I feel like I could eat some more, but I’m satisfied, so I refrain. The latter, at 1000 calories, I feel overstuffed and wish I’d stopped. |
When I am in the tracking mode I try to guesstimate these meals and generally assume the high side of things. I have been tracking for a long time though and have a good sense of how many calories a given meal could have. |
yes. I track everything.
If I'm at a restaurant and order an omelet, I'll use the numbers from a restaurant omelet (even if I'm not at that restaurant), not the specific foods that make up the omelet like I will at home. |
Used to but lately no, I don’t bother. |
Yes, I track everything |
It depends on why I'm tracking. If I'm tracking macros, I'll log it because the macros may not be too off, even if the calories are.
If I'm trying to lose weight, I may or may not log a "splurge day". Sometimes, I lay off the tracking so I don't fall back into disordered eating habits. Sometimes, I track it because it's just information/data, like a PP said, and I know one day isn't a big deal. It honestly depends on how strong I'm feeling in my recovery and how stable my eating has been. |
+1. |
What app do you use?? |
Sometimes its really impossible to know. If I'm eating all of it, Ill just make a note in the log explaining. Once in a while won't kill me. Or you. Obsessive tracking isn't a great idea for a healthy food relationship. |
If the calories are off so will be the macros. |
