Why am I gaining weight despite eating same

Anonymous
For context: I am a young woman in my 20s. I eat plenty of fiber, protein, and healthy foods as well as lots of water . I typically weigh 124-125, however the week before my period I tend to gain up to 3-4 pounds of water weight that comes back down once I finish my period. I was expecting my period over 4 weeks ago and gained a couple of pounds on scale that week, assuming it was my typical PMS. Hwoever, my period never came and its been four weeks. I have gained 4 pounds now, 2 more this week despite eating the exact same cals each day and same exercise. I understand weight fluctuates but I am confused as to why this has been going on for 4 weeks. Could this actually be fat? My belly feels bigger than usual(like bloat how I feel the week before my period). I am waiting for results on thyroid and waiting to get hormones tested as well. Any idea of what could this be? Could it really be fat?

I’m sure I’m asking the obvious here but is there a chance you could be pregnant?

OP here. I am not sexually active so not pregnant

No it's not fat. For whatever reason you are stuck in PMS and keep retaining more and more water.

OP here. Have you ever heard of someone being stuck in PMS? It’s so annoying to have all these uncomfortable symptoms for 4 weeks now with no end in sight

It’s anxiety. Seriously. You are up 4 pounds and skipped one period and you are getting thyroid checked and hormone levels checked over this? It’s one cycle. Chill out. Anxiety and stress can cause your period to be late or skip. And 4 pounds is nearly nothing. A big poop and a few days of eating less and it will be gone

This is the problem. You need to mellow out and more sex if the perfect solution

Sounds like weight gain. I would seriously look hard at every thing you eat and how much exercise you are doing. Sometimes it's as simple as calories in/out, but also if yiu stsrted say a weightlifting programme, or HIIT training, you could be eating more than you need bc you feel hungrier. Maybe look at balancing the types of workouts you are doing.

Look at your salt intake,
Eat asparagus a natural diuretic.
Drink lots of water. Counterintuitive but yes.

I have been eating the same exact cals macros and track all my steps and workouts as well. No difference in that

If you are tracking all your calories, macros, steps, etc. then yes you are anxious and maybe have OCD or disordered eating. You are in your 20s and 120 something pounds. Why are you obsessing about this?

You sounds like maybe you need to see a therapist. Why have you been this closely monitoring your intake, macros, and how many calories burned before you even gained the 4 lbs?
