DC toured both and liked both - as a highly recruited athlete, clicked with both teams and both coaches. Was hoping this would be easier but there is no clear preference at this time. Will be econ major and ultimate goal is “wall street” lol. Full coach support offered at both - child is politically right of center, white male jock, who likes to have fun at parties. Probably had his pick of T20 SLACs and narrowed down to these 2 based on coach/team vibe. Anyone with a similar profile DC who matriculated at either ? experience ? thank you! |
yes and I realize Colby is ranked 25th or so - |
Middlebury is much better for careers on the street. It has better results than Williams and Amherst per capita, so I would definitely move towards their corner (also a more prestigious college). |
Easily Middlebury, which is a much better school. |
Middlebury is much more respected in academic circles, and does better with grad/professional school placement. Neither are WAS level LACs, but Middlebury is the next tier, along with Wellesley, Davidson, Bowdoin, and the like. Colby is not the same level |
What's the basis for this per capita statement? I'm skeptical, particularly given that Midd has a larger student population than Williams and Amherst, both of which are well known for finance placement. That said, I don't dispute that Midd does well on Wall Street. |
My tongue got the best of me. They're worse than Williams, better than Amherst. Unsurprisingly, Claremont McKenna is also in between the two. https://www.collegetransitions.com/dataverse/top-feeders-banking |
Just one anecdote, but my kid was accepted to both, chose Colby (had a strong preference for Colby due to student vibe), and now works on Wall Street (had an internship the summer after junior year and then got a return offer before senior year began). |
Interested in what you mean by a highly recruited athlete… |
^^This is 14 years old. Not sure The Mill is even in existence still. And a right of center athlete would not be hanging out there... |
Even then, it's a banging video, and I'm happy PP shared it. Nearly fell out of my chair laughing! |
Right of center is going to have a less pleasant time at Middlebury. Colby is definitely the way to go if that’s important. |
let me clarify for the OP - he was a highly recruited athlete only on DCUM do you get these type of questions |
It was my question. I have an athlete who has been in touch with one of those schools many times. I have no idea if it is normal or pushes him towards highly recruited based on seeming interest OR if there was more to it and my kid is not that “wanted.” Sorry you took it wrong, but the question was a valid one and answer could help people. Rude… |
