Nothing like being proud of MAGA men who likely think nothing of crushing women’s reproductive rights. |
I was at Midd 20 years ago but this is true. I was more granola but I was friendly with some bros and they were just fine. They had friends, plenty of girls around, and they had fun. |
Nice. I love the Snow Bowl. |
The sad-ish reality of these cliquey athlete men on every LAC campus. They also hardly get their good jobs out of merit, but from past conserva-frat athlete alum who...oh who would've thought, only respond to the message requests of other white athlete men! It's all meritocratic though, don't question it (econ alum of Hamilton, who was disgusted when I sent a request to talk with an alum and who turned on the zoom with a smile that quickly dropped when he realized I was a woman with a non-identifying name and said "oh, you weren't who I was expecting") |
DC does not have this experience as an athlete at the Claremont Colleges ![]() |
Honestly both sound like a terrible fit for your kid! |
+1 I’d keep looking, look for schools with high Greek life participation. Let your kid have a great time in college where he can be himself. Or be ready to accept that he might become open to new ideas. |
I disagree, only because every Athlete group I've seen at a SLAC are a bunch of conservative, partying Greek-lites. People make these schools sound more "liberal" than they are. |
+1. too liberal |
+infinity |
OP here - correction on my side- I meant Nescacs + W&L. The reality is if you are a right leaning kid, the only way on earth you attend a Nescac is to play sports. Even at Trinity, the bastion of the Wall Street athlete bro. My kid gets that, and is perfectly fine hanging with his peeps for 4 years - much like all the ethnic and special interest groups he saw huddled up in tight exclusionary circles in the cafeteria during his visit. It ain’t just the athletes keeping with their own folks, and it’s that way at every Nescac |
I graduated 30 years ago and this video closely resembles my experience there, albeit we had different music and fewer minorities. |
Question for OP: You mention granola leftists at these schools are the majority. You realize that when your son graduates from one of these schools, your son will still be a teeny tiny minority right? So for the rest of his life, why have him become a part of a community that is not him? |
Our DD was heavily recruited by 4 of the NESCACs and chose Colby. She was very happy there, did well and now works in PE. Their facilities are incredible now btw. |
that’s awesome! did they choose Colby over any higher ranked Nescacs? From what I witness with DCs crowd, the tippy top kids start at Williams and work their way down in order of ranking |
