Postpartum Tummy

Anonymous
I am 3 months postpartum and wondering when this jiggly, pronounced belly is going to go away. I still need to lose 20 lbs of baby weight, but I'm not technically overweight on the BMI scale. I have a sort of soft, poochy belly that makes me look like I'm five months pregnant. I'm dieting to lose the weight and working out to get back into shape, but it doesn't seem to be making a difference. Did you find anything to help you get rid of the belly, or am I doomed to be jiggly forever?

it never went away for me. I went back to prepregnancy weight in about 2 months but my belly shaped is just permanently different. More flabby and protrudes more. and yes i have tried exercise. It sucks but I've accepted it now.

It can be from skin and/or diastasis.

You should look into some PP specific recovery for tummy that is protective of the pelvic floor.

Its been 3 months OP.

I think it is hard tell until you’ve lost all the weight. If you lose all the weight and it’s still there it is likely diastasis. Until then, look up exercises you can do to close these muscles, and which ones to stay away from- as some exercises can make this worse. Do that and work on weight loss.

Have you always had a bit of a belly? Agree that it’s hard to tell till you lose the weight. Could be disastasis or not.

I lost all my baby weight in less than a year but still had a small belly pooch. To the point where people were offering me seats on the subway. It took probably another year or so and losing more weight for it to shrink back down. It still protrudes a little bit but not as noticeable. I've accepted it.

I had a diastasis and umbilical hernia after my second pregnancy. PT helped a little, but it did not fully restore my ability to engage my core. I eventually had surgery to repair everything.

Same.

How long is recovery for a mini tummy tuck? I work fulltime in a senior role so I cant just disappear for 1 month of surgery recovery.

What's Every Mother? something to eat or drink? or a reconstructive surgery place?

It’s a workout regimen developed by Leah Keller (I think that’s her name) and validated by research. I started with a 3 month subscription I think but now have the annual one and I use the app so it’s very convenient. Each workout is 15-30 mins.

+1

Sounds like you may have diastis recti, OP. These exercises help immensely. Mine went away eventually but it took a while (like three years). Be patient and learn what to do and what not to do. Eg crunches and some other core exercises can make things worse.
