100,000 federal jobs shipped out of DC and reclassify 50,000 civil servants.

So basically Trump plans to kill DC, the economy, employment numbers, housing market - all out of spite? What does he think 150,000 unemployed govies leads to?

Citation?

He could accomplish that just by being more permissive with remote work. The fed workforce would probably toast his name if he let them work from Tampa instead of having to slog in from Martinsburg every day.

It all probably depends on if the CRE owners downtown ticked him off or are his buddies though...

He and Steve Bannon have been clear since 2015 about dismantling the "administrative state" - which basically means not having a functional federal government, thus making our enemies happy.

I am not sure why people want Trump lackeys looking at meat processing plants of their GOP donors to make sure the facilities are clean, or lackeys approving drugs for medical use, or lackeyes sitting in air traffic control towers.

But hey, we will get the government we deserve after this election, so its all good.

This would keep rents from going too high.
Still be growing with all the tech jobs.

It's like conservative voters want to go back to buying rancid meat, child labor, and not knowing what's in your drugs.

I'm fine with shipping federal jobs out of DC, though, most of us can barely afford to live in this metro area.

I honestly think this will help USG to retain good people. DC has priced itself out as a government town.

Anything back office should be sent out of DC: 99% of IRS, HHS, VA, DoD - A lot of that stuff can be done (and is) in the suburbs of Des Moines, KC, Omaha, Syracuse, Columbus, etc.

in a nutshell, because they are stupid like s$it. like my ILs, who are doing perfectly ok, including getting SS, getting federal subsidies not to farm their land (they would not farm it anyway as they all have jobs), doing well in general economically, but are all livid about being ravaged by taxes (??????) to pay for illegals' lavish benefits (also they feel they are persecuted in their faith as white Christian and cannot say Marry Christmas anymore). my only consolation in this awful situation is that at the end these idiots who propped up a radical right wing, incompetent and dishonest candidate and likely future president will end up paying the price. he will make the bidding of the various Peter Thiel, Musk, Koch brothers and the little people who voted for him will be squashed. even Vance talks the good talk, but he and his wife went to Yale and his kids will go to Yale as well as legacies, kicking out the deserving kids of his voters. I am sure the voters will still say it was the Dems' fault and Biden and Obama and the welfare queen.

At the very least this. Not many people relocate for backend jobs, and the local talent pool is stretched thin as it is.
