"Make Washington D.C. the Safest and Most Beautiful Capital City."
https://www.axios.com/local/washington-dc/2024/07/08/trump-republican-platform-dc-control |
| This is the only good idea Republicans have. DC is a failed crime-ridden city that is damaging the reputation of the US. It is completely unacceptable that the home of the US government is so dirty and full of crime. |
|
+1 Either fix DC or move the US capital elsewhere -- Atlanta, Miami? |
| Good. DC crime has gotten out of control. The ATV riders on the national mall was utterly pathetic. |
| Make Trump Mayor and let Biden continue to occupy the White House. Win-win? |
|
The issue is USAO, the DOJ lawyers, and the crazy DC courts (including the Court of Appeals for DC with its insane 4th Amendment rulings).
Trump can replace the USAO with someone....who will ignore the Court of Appeals rulings and keep bringing cases? *shrug* |
+1. More of this. Please save us from the criminals and leftist ANC commissioners. |
Trump won't. Too much work, enough power he can sell |
| The city of DC is a failed experiment and embarrassing on the global stage. He's the only one even talking about fixing it. |
| Sotomayor's security detail was attempted hijacked in front of her condo last week. |
All democrats. |
| This makes me like Trump a little bit. DC certainly cannot look after itself. I would actually welcome any administration who would take control of the city. I’ve had my fill of equity anarchy. |
Crime is down significantly in the last year. Housing demand remains ridiculously strong. Business revenues remain firm, though the commercial real estate in the central business district remains a post-COVID challenge. Quality of life and demand for people moving to DC remains quite strong. So no, maybe not so crime riddled and dirty as Trump makes it out to be. |
DC has the highest bond ratings in the country. The AAA+ is the envy of every mayor and governor across the land. How dare you say the city cannot look after itself. Crime is way down, quality of life is strong, restaurants and bars are doing well, only the commercial real estate remains a challenge. |
