These plans included what Danielle Hegseth refers to in the affidavit as a “safe word/code word” that Samantha could text her to let friends and family know that Pete Hegseth was in a potentially dangerous and volatile state at home and that Samantha needed help.

In the affidavit, Danielle Hegseth also says that one time “sometime in 2015-2016,” Samantha did text her one of these words and activated the escape plan.

Danielle Hegseth also alleges in the affidavit that Samantha told her that on one occasion Samantha had “hid in her closet from Hegseth because she feared for her personal safety.”

Samantha Hegseth's response:

In an email response Monday, Samantha Hegseth said: “First and foremost, I have not and will not comment on my marriage to Pete Hegseth. I do not have representatives speaking on my behalf, nor have I ever asked anyone to share or speak about the details of my marriage on my behalf, whether it be a reporter, a committee member, a transition team member, etc.”

She added, “I do not believe your information to be accurate, and I have cc’d my lawyer.”

Asked what information was not accurate and for comment on the affidavit, she replied on Tuesday: “There was no physical abuse in my marriage. This is the only further statement I will make to you, I have let you know that I am not speaking and will not speak on my marriage to Pete. Please respect this decision.”

3 kids. I wouldn't go on record to make a statement either. As a divorced mom I would want my kids to maintain a relationship with their father, even if he was a douchebag.

To be clear Danielle Dietrich was formerly married to Pete Hegseth’s brother and had a bitter divorce. She is an avowed Trump hater and has admitted she never personally witnessed any abuse. Sad that this is somehow omitted from most media. Now hopefully some clarification on why Samantha Hegseth is coming forward to reaffirm this is not true and she has not authorized anyone to speak for her. Shame what this woman (Danielle Dietrich ) will do for politics ). Someone needs to remind the senators who are talking about this and omitting the relevant facts.

Since MAGA claims all the accusations about Hegseth's drunken and abusive behaviors are lies, aren't people like this who submit sworn affidavits to the FBI committing a crime? Aren't they subject to criminal penalties for lying to the FBI?

They would be subject to criminal penalties if they were lying. And given how rabid MAGA is, the affiants knew they would be challenged.

We can assume the reports are accurate.
