Have you just given up on things? Do you just not even care anymore? The politics forum is now practically overrun with pro-trump posts. Virtually every topic thread now has maga’s posting in it right out in the open. And these posts aren’t even being deleted. I can remember a time here when anything that sounded even remotely positive or praising of trump was not only deleted immediately but sometimes got the poster banned. Now magas are disrupting every thread here. What is happening to dcum? Why are you letting all these magas have free reign now? I have better things to do than read a bunch of maga propaganda.

It's true that they are having a moment. The reality of a website like this is that when threads are as active as the political threads have been after the debate, there is very little that we can do. There are only two of us and we have to sleep and live our lives. We can't spend 24/7 in the political forum. It will blow over in few days when the MAGAs see another squirrel to chase.

Is it a whole bunch of them or just a few prolific posters? Some seem just so consistently disingenuous and like they’re taking the flood the zone doctrine to heart it seems like it’s just the same person over and over again.

Jeff, can I ask a related question? Are you seeing any patterns with the MAGA assault on the politics forum in terms of whether it’s the same few posters over and over, where they’re located, etc? All the post-debate threads sound so much alike.

I would like to know as well. Tells me if I should bother seeking out any thoughtful debates (I mean, unlike PP I don't think we just delete their posts, but deleting an agenda and PR-created talking points that are posted over and over would be nice on a discussion site of real people). -- or if I should just avoid completely. If the posting metadata is just noise and cleverly masked then it won't help anything either.

I have not taken a close look lately but from what I've seen in the past and what I see when casually looking now, there are various groups. First, I have never seen any evidence of an organized effort to post in the forum in support of a specific agenda. Frankly, I think the posters who are constantly alleging this are a bit paranoid. The most prolific MAGA posters are a handful of local conservatives and a larger group of posters from outside the area. The MAGAs tend to post a lot, way more than the average poster. There also appears to be a significant number of them who, frankly, are not mentally healthy. My leading theory, which I can't prove beyond anecdotal evidence, is that most of the MAGAs are either retired men or stay at home women. These are people who have plenty of time but limited social interaction and I think they literally spend their entire day posting on DCUM.

There are a large number of MAGAs who are obsessive and have been posting here for years. They have figured out how to work around blocks and are single-minded about posting. I will delete their posts and they will repost within minutes.

The left is not immune from attracting crazies. We have the 2025 poster who's is constantly predicting the immediate end of the world and blaming it on the previous poster (whomever that may be at the time) who he/she calls an idiot or worse for good measure.

They are definitely "flooding the zone" and it does seem orchestrated, given they keep repeatedly posting the same things over and over and over and +1'ing the same things over and over and over regardless of other posters proving them factually wrong or exposing just how flawed their logic is, and without bothering to engage the other posters on any of it. There absolutely are groups playing this site in a coordinated way using multiple IPs.

When I talk about posters who are mentally ill, I am not referring to people who simply oppose Biden or support Trump. I am referring to posters who have obvious behaviors that are not consistent with normal human behavior. One of those relevant to this discussion is an insistence on posting in a forum on which you are clearly not welcome even when such posts require significant effort and repeated attempts, all of which culminate in your post being removed. Would any mentally healthy individual engage in such behavior for years on end?
